Tiquan released; Ocho active?

Ian R. Rapoport @RapSheet

I am told there was no disciplinary reasons for WR Tiquan Underwood's release. Just a move to get another DL on the roster for rotation?

Um, the Giants could sign him right now with the Pats gameplan already set. If they released him two weeks ago, they would have had time to alter the plan.

As if this game needed more intrigue.

THAT would be an unbelievable situation!

No they can't. The NFL waiver system is still in place. So other teams not in the playoffs can still claim him. It takes 24 hrs after being cut to know whether a team claimed you or not.

Does that, by rule, cost him his $88,000 SB share?

Pats have been pretty generous with practice squadders who deserve. Gotta think they'll take care of him, one way or another.

Re: Tiquan released

It still doesn't mean it isn't a cold-blooded thing to do to the guy before the biggest game of his life. A game he'll now be watching on TV instead of from the sideline.

They hate their coach, come on, say it

No because he would have to clear waivers.

This is a distraction and not nice. Ugh.

I dont understand

Making a cold move the eve of the Super Bowl. Unless Tiquan was cool with this and understood this was gonna happen.

Re: Tiquan released

Do you not want BB to do what is best for the team?

I do. There's no way to say that this was the best for the team. But you let a guy go through the whole pomp and circumstance of playing in the SB for two weeks and then cut him for a reserve DE the day before the game?

Personally, I don't think Silvestro or Underwood will have much of an impact on SB46...that's why I feel bad for Tiquan (unless he screwed up royally somehow).

BB is doing what is best for the team. I don't get how this is a 'cold' move.
Does it make a big difference if Underwood is inactive on the roster or inactive off the roster?

i would be willing to be that BB told tiquan underwood sometime last week that this was going to happen

calm down everyone

Don't think so I believe that players on the PS and IR players get the playoff $$$, not sure though. I am betting he is signed to the PS prior tomorrow.

My guess is that they want to have an extra DL body because of the heat inside the dome. I remember everyone cramping up in the 4th qtr during the SB with the Panthers.

And all those other teams have so much to do right now.

If the league really wanted to stick it to BB, they'd all pass on Underwood so the Giants could claim him.

You see, Mr. Spock, people have these things called "emotions"....

It makes a big difference to him.
