Pats vs Eagles

yeah...I saw that...hydrate and get in plenty of couch surfing..

I still think what I thought right after that game...Pitt did the unexpected...completely against what they had done for many seasons previously....the Jets did that last playoff game...I see it as other head coaches coming up with a Patriots/BB specific wrinkle that they know cannot be dissected right away and compensations made...as evidence I point to the fact that the Jets confused the hell out of Brady in the playoff game with the "amoeba!!" defense and now this season, lost the first game in NE rather convincingly and then got blasted AT HOME the second game...so much for Wrecksie's amoebic dysentery defense...I imagine a matchup against Pitt in the playoffs will find the Pats better prepared for the aerial attack strategy.

I think that you bring up some good points, Joker.

I agree that Pittsburgh (finally....) decided to try something different, and had some immediate success against N.England in that aspect. When you think about the game, the Pats couldn't have played a much poorer game, and the Steelers couldn't have played a much better game; yet as mentioned, it was still a one-score game at the end, so that does bode well for future meetings.

I do agree with Deus too; that the game was far from what the score showed, but somehow N.England hung in there, which (again) bodes well for the overall aspect, especially when you consider it was one of the best Pittsburgh performances in a while--overall.

I do not think that the gameplanning will confuse the Pats a second time around, and I am glad that this game was played this way in the regular season and not the playoffs.

My overall point is that I believe Pittsburgh showed all of its cards...and that may cost them in another matchup this yr.

Albert Breer tweeted that VY is starting tomorrow. Boy, are we catching some breaks. If Nnamdi doesn't play because he got hurt in Wed. practice, we know things are going our way. I was worried Vick could get the ball downfield to Maclin and Jackson. That's not VY's strength. Plus, both of them are beat up. Kick em when they're down. Get up early and make VY throw and take McCoy out of the game. Andy Reid has a tendency to disregard the running game and I'd like to force him into that again tomorrow by getting a lead on them.

Vince is starting tomorrow! This will still be a very tough game. The Eagles have their backs against the wall and their home crowd will be rocking.

Has Andy Reid ever beaten BB's NE ?

I'm honestly not worried about this game. VY sucks,Desean is an immature punk,Nnamdi is hurt, their linebackers are awful. Only way this game becomes a problem is if we can't stop McCoy.

No. Only in preseason. 3-0 vs Reid.

Also, Eagles are 1-4 at home. So good sign for us.

Sorry, but there was no James Harrison, James Farrior or Hines Ward.

The Steelers most definitely CAN play a better game the next time.

It's the Patriots who are going to have to improve.

The Eagles are desperate and based on how Michael Vick has been playing since the 2nd half of last season, Vince Young is not that much of a downgrade, I'm afraid.

Plus the Eagles D is built to rush the passer and with Light hurt and Vollmer regressing badly this season, Jason Babin and Trent Cole will be tough to block. I can see this being a close high-scoring game like the 07 matchup.

I see that as a bad sign...they are going to win at home sooner or later..

i am more nervous about this game now..big test for the D and the O can't start out flat

If they can win this game..i think they win out and get #1 seed..if the lose...i see us getting #2 sed in the end

I am going to have to respectfully disagree, shmessy.

I realize the obvious importance of Harrison's absence, but to say that Hines Ward (who has been outright benched) is bringing anything to the Steelers this year is quite a stretch. If anything, Ward's absence only made us respect the speed of Sanders and Brown even more. Not only that, but Ward's immediate replacement was Cotchery, who always seems to give the Pats problems.

I'll take Hines Ward any day of the week....

Farrior is just another plug and play guy who's absence did not make any kind of huge impact either. You aren't serious about Ward and Farrior are you?? Every team has injuries every game, and those 2 aren't keeping anyone up at night.

I will give you James Harrison, as he always poses problems, so that point is quite valid.

I am still sticking to the premise that Pittsburgh showed all of its cards, played one of their best overall games in years (I am stuck watching almost every game), while N.England played just awful...yet the score was still a one score game with a shot to win at the end.

It is my opinion that we'd be a lot better prepared against them the 2nd time around, but I also respect your views of course, too.

With PHI missing Vick, Maclin, and hopefully Asomaugh, that certainly bodes a lot better for us than in the beginning of the week. I am not sure why'd you'd be more nervous "now" than before??? I have been very worried about this game, but the injury report is making me feel a lot better a day before the game. You should feel better too..not worse!

As far as the seeding goes, I don't see any way possible that we could beat BAL or PIT for the #1 seed, as our oppenents' winning percentage will dramatically take a huge hit in the next 6 games...not to mention the fact that we could certainly lose one more to either PHI or MIA. I really don't see them gaining any ground on the winner of the AFCN, but that's just my opinion. It would be tough, even by going 6-0 the rest of the way. We'd still need help to make up a game, and the AFCN schedules are very easy.

I don't really see a #1 seed either way, but HOU is not scaring me away from thinking that the #2 is well within reach. Then again, they have a very capable set of RB's, and Andre Johnson is back after missing 1/2 a season, so their team is in a decent position to have Leinart simply manage the game for them to continue winning. We will have to see. I agree that the #2 is within reach, but even that will not be easy.

It is a lot of poster and fan views that having the #2 may very well be better this year anyway, as we'd match up to that #3 or #4 in the divisional round much better than say, a PIT, BAL, CIN, or the NYJ (again). That'd put them in the AFCCG with a lot more ease, and get that "one and done" monkey off of their backs.
