Look, last I checked, Manning doesn't play defense!!

There was one pick 6, and one fumble, anything else?? SO Let's say their defense ONLY gave up 48 points!

The Saints had the ball nine times and scored 7 touchdowns and 2 field goals, That's incredible!

But what is more staggering is this:

That's Right it was 28-0 well on their way to making it 35-0 BEFORE the Saints faced a 3rd DOWN!!! I don't care if Peyton comes back with the size and powers of Godzilla, the Colts are in some serious trouble.

Caldwell said “I think the guys fought. We didn’t execute well, but I think the effort was good.”

Jim Caldwell on Colts’ loss: “I have to take responsibility” | ProFootballTalk

On the sidelines Caldwell looked mad. Or maybe happy. Not sure.

This may be the year to hang 70 on the Colts!

The Stoics could take lessons from this guy

Or to be more fair, how about like a 16 year old boy.

what was that suit he was wearing last night? It looked like Col. Sanders met Gone With the Wind.........

It makes you appreciate 2008 all the more when the Pats star QB went down and they adapted and didn't tank the season.....

He also said they got outplayed. He was just spouting the generic excuses. The clown who runs Stampede Blue is just looking for signs of Caldwell's total demise and he wants to think Saturday just torpedoed him. And he's mining Irsay's tweets for hints the Polian's are history since he personally holds them responsible...

I read an article about Irsay recently and I have to say while he is crazy it's more crazy like a fox. He's just using twitter lately to manufacture/manage interest level in the franchize at a time when fans and media would otherwise be ignoring the whole debaucle. At least they still have drama unfolding - kind of like the Red Sox... Jim is workin' it.

The 2011 Colts are the football team the NE fanbase deserves. Perfect fit with the Boston Red Sox mentality that infects the region's fans and mediots with their poisonous negative defeatist attitude that relishes wallowing in abject misery.

Contrast the Pats 2008 performance with the Colts. Fanbois here constantly carp over the slightest issues. I don't mean the well reasoned draft critics posts, critiques of strange calls and decisions by BB or player cut criticisms and differences of opinion, but the outrage of the entitled to win the SB every year or 2 set.

That was when they were putting in at least a 50% effort. Now it's all in for Andrew Luck.

The Colts playing to lose for Luck is pure B.S. IMO

The Colts are NOT and I repeat NOT going to take the #1 draft pick (if they actually get it) and draft Luck....they won't.

UNLESS the small chance that Manning retires which I doubt,The Colts will use the #1 to trade down for truckloads of draft picks in 2012 and beyond and rebuild their team like NE is trying to do.

IF Manning shocks me and announces his retirement BEFORE the draft, then that changes everything.

Bottom line is Andrew Luck will take the first snap of the 2012 season for his new team ..... and that team to me appears to be the Miami Dolphins who reportedly are going hard after Bill Cowher..... Perhaps Cowher's coaching and a new breath of QB in Luck would supply a new life in South Beach.

Andrew Luck will NOT be holding a clipboard as a backup in 2012......

No question about it. Putting starters on IR and blatantly throwing football games to get Mr. Luck as a fan is frustrating to watch. The integrity of every football game they play this year is in total question and it was done purposely by Irsay and Polian, and frankly, it's not right and I mean this when I say it, I think what they're doing should serioulsy be looked into by Goodell, it's wrong, flat out wrong.

This team is not an 0-16 team without Manning, no damn way. Yet they made a decision at the beginning of the year to go down this "tank for Luck" path when they knew PM wasn't coming back this season.

I just talked to guy I work with out in Indy and he told me that same thing, they are throwing football games to get Luck.

That's your tin foil talking. The Colts were so overmatched last night the game could have been forfeited. Players play for their contracts. Coaches coach for them, too. Even in Miami they aren't trying to lose, it's just absent a remotely viable QB they don't have a shot. Ross is likely salivating over losing for Luck, but his soon to be ex GM and HC and their staffs certainly aren't. These guys are watching their careers get flushed down the proverbial ****can... These teams are simply the product of no QB (Miami was at least competitive out of the gate and Indy has shown flashes it could almost occasionally be -look what happened to the Raider's last night even at the hands of another dysfunctional team), inferior coaching, inept roster management, lack of accountability top to bottom and an overall lousy culture beginning to permeate the team psyche.

This is what happens when the players don't think those above them don't have their backs and their frustrations boil over. Unfortunately, Saturday chose the wrong target. He should have gone off about the GM. That's the guy who'd been going with Painter as the backup and tried an emergency patch just a couple of weeks before the start of the season.

Hey,maybe they pack-up the trucks and leave in the middle of the night.:D

The difference can be summed up in two words. Belichick...philospohy. Polian is just a personnel guy. He can't coach 'em and scheme around selection pitfalls. There has been a little battle of sorts waged in football over the last several seasons between the GM as architect and Coaching as genius camps as to which (pure talent or scheme fit talent) represents the true benchmark value to franchises. We got lucky to land a guy who wears all the hats while still being humble enough to delegate. Polian is the guy with a porche in his garage who has to call a mechanic if it won't start and rent from Budget until they fix it. Bill is the guy with a volvo and an SUV in his garage and if the volvo won't start he can drive the SUV other while he figures out who can help him fix the volvo without having to call for a tow truck.

First, I have no idea who Luck is..all know s he plays college ball which I dont give a crap about.

Second, no team is losing on puropose. Maybe some owners want them too, but players are playing for their jobs every single game..

Thrid, IF it comes out that a team tanked a season to get a player, I would really consider stopping my nfl watching days. The game is getting bad enought with a flag every play, I think that might be the last straw.

Fourth, I hope someone drafts Luck 1st over all and he is a bust, and someone gets a qb with the 199th over all pick and he becomes a hall of famer.

The thing is I don't see this being a simple problem of not having Manning. Even when/if he comes back there are going to be a lot of problems. Most of their best players are all nearing the end at the same time. Wayne, Freeney, Mathis, Saturday, Clark, etc are all on the wrong side of 30

No, unlike Brady who will leave NE consistently competing for Superbowls, Manning is likely to return to a team whose only hope for a playoff bid will be because they will be competing in what is turning into the worst division in football. It won't be pretty....and COULD get ugly....and that's not a bad thing. ;)

He's a top end prospect who just might have the skills to change the face of the game for the next 10+ years.

Teams have tanked on purpose before, and they'll do it again. Whether that's happening this time is something only the players could tell you. However, giving up is as deadly to winning as throwing games, and it's pretty clear that some bad teams have given up early in games this year.

All games and sports have people who tank and/or quit. If that's your requirement, you might want to start looking for a solo hobby.

If you don't know the kid, why would you want him to bust?

It's SO easy to just put modest effort in on a play or play vs going Full Tilt Full Time as we were blessed to witness. It's only human nature for some fraction of players on a bad team with uninspired coaching to "tank" in this manner. We're not talking about tossing half a dozen INTs to the other guy Raiders style. :) Couldn't resist commenting on the Hue (must stand for cretin) Jackson Palmer debacle.

Irsay on twitter is hysterical, he types like a 12 yr old girl.

Twitter is not a classy or effective way for an NFL owner to communicate with his fan base. Too casual and flippant.

so was Ryan Leaf

Players/Teams give up because they lost the drive to play, NOT because its better for an organziation. Players only care about themselfs

there is a joke here some where.

If you don't know the kid, why would you want him to bust?

Dont really care, even if he is a bust he will still have enough money for life.

Has anyone thrown out the idea that they are just trying to get a new coach? :)

He's a top end prospect who just might have the skills to change the face of the game for the next 10+ years.

Watching him you can see that he reads defenses better than some current NFL QBs and I mean veteran QBs wrt progressions. His receivers at Stanford are not the greatest at getting separation or having great hands.... He may yet be a bust but I think he has a better chance of being at least, a solid NFL QB....

Andrew Luck won't be a panacea anymore than Cam Newton has been in Carolina. Even if Luck good in the NFL, it takes years to become great, unless you're Tom Brady in which case your greatness begins right away. How often does that happen? That didn't happen even for Peyton Manning, who, although he was good, had growing pains.
