re: OT: Jim Irsay with a cryptic tweet(merged)

Yeah....maybe you missed it, last year Gonzo, Addai, Collie, and Clark were all hurt a lot of the season. Manning was throwing or handing off to such all time greats as Blair White, Javaris James, Jacob Tamme.

The Colts came to NE, without Addai or Clark, Collie got knocked out again, and the Colts still came within a bad pass and 3 points of beating the Pats again. The Colts have pretty much owned the Pats since 2005. Winning 5 out of the past 7 against the Pats.

And Houston may be a team with "heart", maybe, but the Texans have been the darling of the preseason for around 3 years now. Every year is supposed to be "their year". It hasn't happened yet and their D sucks. Before Houston the Jags were going to dethrone the Colts for a few seasons.

Manning will be fine. Count on it.

Pats fans better worry about the Jets.

Are you this bossy in real life? Settle down.

re: OT: Jim Irsay with a cryptic tweet(merged)

The Colts won only 10 games last year, with Manning and his receivers having all offseason to work on timing. The Colts offense is completely built around that timing, and they aren't able to develop it right now. The Colts first five games are against Houston, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Kansas City. A slow start could put them behind in their division, and Houston may actually have a team with a heart this year.

Meanwhile, the Patriots went 14-2 last season and have made moves to bring in top end talent like Haynesworth and Johnson. Before coming here to talk crap, you should probably be burning candles hoping that Manningstein is alright, and that the Colts make the playoffs.

Also, 85 isn't getting any younger, with the way Pats fans are so concerned about the ages and declining skills of Colts players they sure don't apply the same scrutiny to their own team.

.....and Fat Albert.....well, last time I saw him was when the Colts played the Skins last year and they cut away to show him drinking a beer in a luxury suite.

When is the last time Fatty actually played?

This play is a particular favorite of mine though:

Albert Haynesworth --- Lay Lady, Lay - YouTube

Sure, BB is a genius and maybe he can get something out of Haynesworth, but Haynesworth is a scumbag, lazy, and going by his teammates in Washington, a terrible teammate and locker room poison.

Just saying.

Project much?

"project"? Ha, you got me, I'm worried sick about the Jets.

Also, it's not like I was responding to things Pats fans were saying in this very thread or anything.

Nope, just projecting.

I didn't miss it, slick. I watched the games. 10-6. Also, relying on injuries to players like those you mentioned is a joke. As you noted, the key word there was "again".

As for Houston, I'm not a fan. I think they are soft, particularly at QB. However, they added talent at areas of weakness, while the Colts may, or may not, have even treaded water. When you rely almost solely on the draft, the way the Colts have, bad drafts will kill you. And Polian hasn't exactly been lighting in up in that department lately.

Meanwhile, those darned Patriots went 14-2 and brought in top shelf talent to go with their improving, and young, team.

Also, I love the "owned" nonsense. The Patriots beat the Colts in 2007, almost beat them in 2008 without Brady, lost by one to them in 2009 when BB got stupid on 4th down, and beat them again in 2010. In other words, when both teams have had their #1 QBs, the Patriots have won 2 of the last 3, and lost the other by a single point. That's not "owned", for either side.

re: OT: Jim Irsay with a cryptic tweet(merged)

A couple months back I took a lot of flak for commenting about Indy may be considering trading Manning and starting the rebuild right now. I mentioned his neck injury, how it seemed to bother him the last half of last season, and how they are potentially going to be having some serious protection issues with their O-line.

Now perhaps it looks like that whole neck injury situation may be coming home to bite them big time. If Manning can't start, especially for several weeks, then dumping all that money into him doesn't make a whole bunch of sense.

I still say that, considering the weaknesses they have on both the O-line and the D-line, that it would have made better business sense to trade Manning and use the money he took up to start the rebuild NOW. Indy is going to have to do that. They need a LOT of fresh faces in there, and the longer they put it off, the more financial problems they are going to have to deal with.

I wish Manning luck in healing from his injuries. He's a gifted QB and football player, and any fan ought to be able to recognize that and give credit where it's due. If he never won another game, I wouldn't shed a tear, but I respect what he has done for Indy & for football.

Trade Peyton for multiple draft picks and enter the Andrew Luck lottery.:D

Well, since everything is working like a well oiled machine Coltland, meeting up with the Jets in the playoffs should be a breeze. It's not like the Jets could sit Tom Moore in his car in the parking lot and have him listen to the AM radio and be able to understand everything the Colts offense is doing. Nevermind game plan for an entire week with Rex beforehand, shouldn't be a problem at all.

They also beat them by what almost 20, in 2005, and beat them twice in 2006 "slick".

So yeah, the key word is "again", as in they almost beat them "again" in addition to the 5 times the Colts have beat them out of the past 7 meetings.

Winning 5 out of 7 is owning in my book and I wasn't "relying" on injuries, you (or one of the guys here) talked about how if the Colts didn't get a lot of practice time, they couldn't be effective. I was just pointing that last year they had to bring in a bunch of guys who Manning hadn't played with and they were effective enough to win or have a shot at winning.

re: OT: Jim Irsay with a cryptic tweet(merged)

Wow, you found a highlight of Haynesworth in a Skins uniform. But in that same clip they point out that the Bears led the NFL in sacks.....so that clip giveth and taketh away.

Also, the guy has had 6.5 sacks for the past 2 seasons.

Haynesworth has monster talent, but he's a lazy SOB.

I think the Colts would have a very good chance of beating the Jets should they meet in the PO's. I'm not worried about the Jets at all, more than likely they won't even play the Colts this year.

I'll leave worrying about the Jets to Pats fans.

Refresh my memory. I remember the Pats Jets games but just how did Indy do against the Jets last year?

Watching some random Colt fan flail around like he's on fire is more fun than I thought it would be.

As far as this whole "5 of the last 7" business, how is that in any way relevant? You seem to want it both ways, where the wins count if Brady's hurt (2008), but not if Austin Collie is, which makes you either a troll or an idiot.

Bottom line: nobody here cares about the Colts, really. We're talking about the bizarre tweet that Irsay put out, and wondering what the hell could possibly have motivated him to publicly say something that stupid. I genuinely hope that Manning's okay, because losing your star QB sucks.

It's 2011 and you're trying to go back to 2005 and 2006, which were teams before the Patriots changed their offense. In doing so, you gloss over the outcomes of the most recent matchups, which is exactly what you were attempting to do.

If you want to go back to 2005, why stop there? Let's go back to 2001, when Brady took over. That makes it 7 of 12 for the Patriots in the Manning/Brady era, even with you including the Cassel game. Either that, or you could just stop making such a weak argument; whichever is the more honorable retreat in your eyes. Again, the Patriots have won 2 of the last 3 matchups (Brady v. Manning), and lost the 3rd one by one point. That's not getting owned by the Colts, no matter how hard you try to pretend it is.

And last year, the Colts were 10-6, with the same guys who always get injured getting injured. This year, it's Peyton, mighty Peyton, and even the simplest passing game in the league isn't going to be enough to save the Colts if Captain Neckbolt can't play, because those backups are terrible.

Now, run along, hope the Jaguars and Texans screw the pooch again, and pray that the fivehead heals up quickly. December 4th, in Gillette Stadium, will be the next chance for the Colts to close the victory gap.

...

2005 and 2006? How far back are we going? (Funny how you start in 2005, not just before that for other pre-Moss games.)

Yes, Wayne and Harrison were better than Caldwell and Brown in 2006. Shall we talk about how Harrison was held by the evil Patriots in the 2003 AFCC but somehow Brown facing the same non-calls was not hindered? Or is that ancient history like how Idiana-no-place stole the heart from Baltimore? (Don't take my word for it, take Johnny Unitas's.)

Is he as lazy as Randy Moss in 2006?:D

Because he's the hero Indianapolis deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a veteran presence, a watchful protector. A dark knight.
