Very well written and interesting.

Could you do one on how the Jets will go another 40 years without getting inside the gate of a Super Bowl stadium?

Boy, that's UGLY.

I HATE ugliness.

That vile post just SHOCKED me.

Here's hoping he passes out/recants/sleeps it off.

He's usually much better than that.

Keep your enthusiasm,buddy.......Off The Grid and Above The Fray:cool:

Offthegrid...will we be running the revolutionary 11-TE set after Brady retires?

Simmer down, randomk!!

lulz..no problems man...only kidding. i find most of your posts rather interesting.

Well SAID, man.

And thanks.

I had a terrifying thought the other day, who takes over when BB steps aside?

BB can never be replaced, but which coach could take over and keep the train moving? There wasn't a coach that I felt truely comfortable with and then a name popped into my head which seemed to make all the sense in the world: Bruschi.

I hope to see him start out as a linebacker coach and be groomed to take over eventually.

Aside from being the model of the Patriot Way and being an intelligent mofer what would make you think he could become a good coach? Plenty of ex-players who have failed miserably.

No team is on top forever...no team stays dominant. People need to accept that fact. Like one poster's username indicates...this is a golden age for us.

He has football brains and then some, he has heart and then some.

Many great players fail as coaches because they don't know how to get other people better, they might have been very gifted or they simply don't know how to get across what they know.

Bruschi has done a lot of that as a player and I'd be willing to bet he could be a great coach.

Thanks for the kind words, Bro.

I will respectfully pass on the Jets idea, though.

But I like the way you're thinking. :D

HOWEVER, what you haven't mentioned is that there is no reason why these great draft hauls can't continue. It's perhaps Bill greatest piece of genius and it really is a shame he doesn't get more credit for it. I'm surprised teams keep falling for the same trick to be honest. :p

I'm talking of course about trading a 3rd for a future 2nd, trading a 1st for a 2nd and a future 1st or similar trades. Every one of these trades vastly improves your chances of making a quality draft selection. Until teams stop making these trades there is absolutely NO REASON to believe the amazing draft hauls won't continue. :rocker:
Certainly the draft hauls seem to be looking very positive these days and we have collected some good to great talent.

I think one of the main reasons we have sustained success with the drafts is threefold: (1) We've been having sustain success for a number of years (2) BB is ultimately "fair-minded" when it comes to deal negotiation and teams know he will trade out (3) because of (1) & (2) Kraft has extended BB a great amount of freedom to make these decisions. Most coaches coming into a situation have a window of opportunity to become successful and thus have to sell out the future for today and are essentially gambling while BB is applying good "fiscal" sense with his stocks (draft picks).

Look how some teams are starting to stockpile quality depth (not as much as you would think, but moreso than it was back in 2000 when BB made this a priority).

Another aspect to consider is the new CBA and how people will manage the salary Cap. I think in this we are in very good hands as the patriots seem to be ahead of the curve on this, but most teams will figure it out before long.

One thing in the new CBA that will affect our drafting strategy is the rookie salary cap. As of next year those high level picks (top 5 to 10) can be more easily dealt as it won't hanstring you from potential bad decisions. All #1 picks that don't fan out ultimately hurt you, but you won't have to guarantee 60 million to a QB as the #1 pick.

And to insert my opinion into the OTG's style. What's not to like? If you want to hear negativity, join the jets forum or watch the news. I come hear to be with my own kind and while I may be a homer with some sense of reasonable/guarded expectation for the 2011 Patriot...I say it's always great to see OTGs enthusiam.

And I completely agree with the premise that Brother AyYo and you're putting forward: Coach Bill II ~ The Great ~ is relentlessly demonstrating an utterly unprecedented fusion of Wisdom + Testicular Fortitude, in seeing the VAST possibilities of perpetually Trading Back...and having the guts ~ and the Patience ~ to DO so.

Combining that absolutely DEADLY set of skills with the Unlimited Credit that he has earned ~ and that Bob Kraft has consistently and persistently displayed similar Wisdom and strength of Character in extending to him ~ makes us, in my view, the most formidable adversary that the rest of this league has ever seen.

Also we have to be realistic about Brady. How many year of brilliant football does he have in him. I am hoping its the north side of 4 years, but I am not banking on it.

Do people really think this team is just going to fall off the earth when Brady retires? They went 11-5 a couple years ago with a kid who hadn't played football since highschool as their QB.

On a team that Brady made into one of the most impressive ever.

Same kid also just had a pro bowl season on a different team.

Brady made? That team was about a motivated Randy Moss, not Tom Brady. The Patriots will be plenty fine without Brady. Will there be some speed bumps, of course. Will they make the playoffs 3 years out of 4? Most likely.

Wow. You talk about the Lunatic Fringe and then post something like this? Bad form.

Are you telling me you dont see the foolish narcessism that this post has in common with Lebron's speech?? Really??

I have been interested the drafts have been better since Demitroff and Peioli have left....

BB is in quite a groove as the GM right now.

Actually the drafts got MUCH worse after Dimitroff left in 2004. Dimitroff also has done well in Atlanta. Pioli had strong drafts with the Pats and Chiefs so it wasn't him. Those terrible drafts from 2005-2008 coincided with Josh McDaniels working out players and being in the war room. Chad Jackson, Maroney, Thomas, Kevin O'Connell were personally worked out by JM. McDaniels showed in Denver he does not have a good eye for personnel. He even wasted another draft pick trading for Maroney while letting Hillis and many other great players go.

Thanks for the heads up on the timing of the 'bad' drafts'.

There is no OFF button on your hyperbole meter, otg, but in some bizarro,foghorn-leghorn,
kind of world....I find you extremely funny.I have no idea why.....perhaps we have kindred flux-capacitors......Never mind, now I'm rambling:eek:
