Fleeting Dominance...Fleeting Glory

Most FootBall Dynasties get only one shot at it.

The Browns of the 50's.

The Lions of the 50's.

The Packers of the 60's.

The Steelers of the 70's.

The Miners of the 80's.

The CowBoys of the 90's.

Every one of these teams won an impressive series of Championships in a short period of time...But every last one of them, with the sole exception of the Miners, were completely done after 7 to 9 years...And while the Miners hung on and pulled one more out'f their hat in 1994, they were clearly no longer the Alpha Team, having been supplanted by the CowBoys...and for them the ensuing years have been grim, indeed.

***

My point is this: the nature of FootBall is absolutely brutal, most so to those who succeed: The Evolution of Strategies, the most innovative and disruptive of which often take several years to produce these brief periods of dominance, ultimately produce counter strategies that eventually thwart and ultimately obliterate the hard earned advantages of the entrenched architects of that dominance. Thus, it's no coincidence that great teams tend to go a long, long time before returning to The Top.

But I believe that we're about to witness a dramatic exception.

Dawn of a Dynasty's Renaissance

You see: Every last one of those Dynasties were eventually allowed to grow old.

The New England Patriots??

Not so much.

Coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots ~ via an unprecedented series of advantageous Draft Day Trades ~ have unleashed an astonishing TIDAL WAVE of young, powerfull, and brilliant Talent...And its lead elements have now, collectively, reached a Critical Mass of Experience and Applied Talent where ~ in joining forces with extraordinary veterans such as Tom Brady, Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo, and others ~ they are poised to simply sweep the rest of the league away.

2 Outrageous Predictions

I'm predicting 2 things to transpire in the next 3 years:

1 ~ The Patriots are about to become the first team ever to win 3 consecutive Super Bowls.

2 ~ The Patriots will soon become the first team ever to go 19-0.

Full Disclosure: I am a full-blooded Yankee ~ a native of New England.

And I am an unrepentant guzzler of Patriot Kool Aid!!

That being said...

Whither such a lunatic pair of predictions??

Simple.

That's 17 Starting Caliber Players, many of outstanding talent!! And that's not even including guys that Coach Belichick stole off the waiver wire, like Danny WoodHead and Rob Ninkovich, or the deep swath of exceptional depth that he's augmented that team with, in the later rounds of these same Drafts.

Ladies and gentlemen??

That 3 year haul is not only astonishing.

It is unprecedented.

The last time anything even close to this transpired, was with the 1989-1992 CowBoys.

And that haul ~ though immense ~ is eclipsed by the seismic impact of Coach Belichick's vast orchestrations.

Same As It Ever Was: A Vision of the Future

The deeply talented but inexperienced CowBoys of 1989-1991 first learned to play together...and then learned to win together.

A 3 year incubation period...and then they exploded onto the world of FootBall like the Wrath of GOD.

And that team ~ respectfully submitted ~ had neither Coach Bill Belichick, nor Field General Tom Brady.

Ladies and Gentlemen?

The FootBall world has absolutely no idea what's about to hit it.

I like the enthusiasm, but most of us live on this place called Earth where we have to live one day at a time.

Not saying I wouldn't absolutely love to win 3 in a row more than anything at the moment.

Humbly submitted, my Fellow Patriot Fanatics!! :D

As always, I look forward with pleasure to the prose of the many great minds, hereabouts, from whom I hope to read their rebuttals, their occasional agreements, and other fine tangents, all stemming from our common love for this amazing team.

And as always, to the Haters: I FART in your general direction!! :D

I loved everything you wrote. The future does look bright, but I would like to see us win a playoff game before we talk about dynasties.

Also we have to be realistic about Brady. How many year of brilliant football does he have in him. I am hoping its the north side of 4 years, but I am not banking on it.

It's lonely work...being a Visionary. :snob:

A post for all true homers to rally behind :D

Well done!

Fair question!!

My prognosis on General Brady is much more positive than the consensus seems to be: I look at ScumBag Degenerate Favre having a CAREER year at the age of 40...Then I reflect on the diligence and relentless passion of Brady, who is 33...and then I get all happy, inside. :D

And thanks for the kind words!! :D

Now that's what I'd call a Patriots fan.

Not sure what you're selling, here, homie...

Shall I assume that this is a message of admiration, unconditional support, and veneration? :)

"it is what it is."

This team has to go all out the next 3 years for the superbowl. We have a young nucleus mixed with veterans.Just make it happen now!!!

You're right about the one crack at it. I remember back in 04 after we picked up C. Dillon and that season progressed. I thought we had a chance to win 5 in 7yrs. Tie GB for that record. We came pretty damn close. The flu and and a couple of dropped int's did us in.

Honestly, I just don't see enough talent on defense to do it. I feel we are good enough offensively to do it. But, not so sure about the defensive side of the ball. Albert Haynesworth will have to be a beast. The rest of the DL isn't as good as it used to be. Need him. Can we realistically count on it? OLB just doesn't stack up with mssrs; Vrabel, Colvin and McGinest. I feel our secondary is going to be better than many think. McCourty on the cusp of being an elite player. Chung can become a very good SS. Meriweather better than a guy like Eugene Wilson. Bodden/Darling as your 2nd and 3rd cb's is very good.

I agree with your general premise that a JuggerNaut is ascending and multiple titles are on the way. I'm personally hoping Brady gets 7 titles to best Jordan's 6.

Unfortunately I think you over-rate the draft classes a bit. For instance Price, Butler and this years rookie class haven't proven to be starting caliber yet. Some rookies from this year probably won't be starting caliber.

HOWEVER, what you haven't mentioned is that there is no reason why these great draft hauls can't continue. It's perhaps Bill greatest piece of genius and it really is a shame he doesn't get more credit for it. I'm surprised teams keep falling for the same trick to be honest. :p

I'm talking of course about trading a 3rd for a future 2nd, trading a 1st for a 2nd and a future 1st or similar trades. Every one of these trades vastly improves your chances of making a quality draft selection. Until teams stop making these trades there is absolutely NO REASON to believe the amazing draft hauls won't continue. :rocker:

Sadly it look like there's been a little too much inbreeding with those "full blooded Yankees"

as long as Brady is still playing at a high level the pats got a shot at the SB every year... will Brady get 2 or 3 more rings i dont know but i do think he gets #4 this year

Sadly it look like there's been a little too much inbreeding with those "full blooded Yankees"

I can honestly say that I have never seen ONE exception to the rule:

Lowlife, degenerate scum like yourself, probably 18 beers or so into a case of Millwaukee's Best and ripped out of your MIND...NEVER have the courage to say that sort of thing to a guy's FACE.

Let's tally it up, shall we?

1 ~ You call me "inbred".

2 ~ You call my family "inbred".

3 ~ You insult every native of New England.

And you did so...why??

Because I posted something positive that had nothing to do with you.

And you do so, not in person ~ never in person, your type!! ~ but on the InterNet, being the drunk coward that you are.

Good luck with that.

Boy, that's UGLY.

I HATE ugliness.

That vile post just SHOCKED me.

Here's hoping he passes out/recants/sleeps it off.

He's usually much better than that.

A conservative appraisal but fully justified, You left off Mesko, Ridley, Mallett, Deaderick, Pryor & Edleman.

Really amazing when you look at it.
