Re: If the Patriots don't sign a player........

You confuse and frighten me with your fancy words. I do not know this "pass rush" you speak of, I am but a Pats fan.

......"A Horse!"..."A Horse"..." My kingdom,for a Horse"......or an OLB,depending on whether you are from:Middle England or New England.:deadhorse:

You may want to rewatch that Jets game. They gashed us on the ground, exploited poor tackling in the secondary, and thoroughly shut down our offense until the game was already decided. But, I'm sure it is easier simply to obsess about the pass rush. Carry on.

You may want to realize that I didn't judge either side as right or wrong in my post, but pointed out what's basically happened the past couple of seasons (although I inflated the 2009 record because Brady won't be coming off an ACL injury again). But, since you decided to go there...

You may also want to note that you're wrong about the Jets shutting down the offense since, at first, it was the offense self destructing with the Brady INT and the Crumpler drop. It was after that when the Jets were able to put the clamps on. Had the Patriots been able to pressure Sanchez, they'd likely have been able to get him to make the sort of throws that get picked off and kept the pressure on the Jets.

But I'm sure it's easier to pretend things didn't happen the way they did than it is to admit that the Patriots have issues.

I really think they need a quality pass rusher.

In BB I still trust.

TBC will be cut guys. It has been announced, thus it shall be. Meaning the Pats just lost a starter at the OLB position. Pats will sign a vet to replace TBC, I really don't have a doubt about that. Whether we've ever heard of the guy we'll see. Look BB has not been afraid to address the position with a high priced free agent before - see Rosevelt Colvin and Adalius Thomas. The real question is who are they targeting and how much are they willing to spend this time around.

The cap is another issue to watch that will restrict what we can do. The rookies still need to all be signed. If we get a mid tier OLB FA and Ocho Cinco plus some vet competition for other roster spots I'll deem this a successful free agency. But there's still a ton of moves that can be made from now until the beginning of game 1. Let's have a little faith in BB.

Which way is the charles river bridge...

Without TBC we'll be 1-15. Facing the AFC West.

TBC started 6 games last year........ninkovich started 10 and cunningham started 11....fletcher is capable of AT LEAST what TBC did last year which was mostly to come in on 3rd downs

That's a very good point. While he has no chance of ever being a full-time OLB, I love Fletcher's ability as a pass rush specialist in certain packages.

??? I just named three issues. The point, which you may have grasped had your faculties not been, as usual, fully devoted to starting an argument, is that deficient areas were addressed in the offseason, just not the one everyone is obsessing over.

The point, which you may have grasped if you weren't just waiting to attack without thinking, as usual, is that this thread is about the pass rush, and I pointed out the recent cycle of the argument as opposed to stating a position.

Compounding the folly of your post, your "issues" weren't even all correct, as I pointed out.

Ill meet you there. lol...Jason Taylor....lol

We're so doomed!

On a serious note, I'd love to see us clean house a little and possibly bring in Kiwanuka and Babin. I think we'd be in a really good spot if we managed both of them somehow.

edit: yes, i know it's pretty unrealistic, but i can dream can't I!?

these passrush arguments have been done to death. So ill just say that my expectations and others wouldn't be hurt with the addition of at least one quality OLB who can put pressure on the qb.

In case the chicken littles hadn't noticed; flawed teams have contested/won the SB pretty much every year in the salary cap era.

Pittsburgh doesn't have an O-line and their DB's have hands of stone.

The Colts can't run or stop the run.

The Giants aren't particularly good at anything and Eli Manning shouldn't have been the starting in the post-season.

And so on.....

It would be fantastic to be able to field a team that didn't have any weaknesses - but its just not going to happen.

Elite pass rushers are rare - just as elite QB's and elite HCs are too.

Personally, i'm happy to be cheering for a team that ticks two of the boxes.

The Patriots D are young and improving - they aren't Pittsburgh quality , thats for sure, but then how many teams are?

The Steelers stack the D and compromise on the O-line which leads to their franchise QB getting the snot knocked out of him on a regular basis.

Too many fans spend too much time thinking profootball is Madden.

Of course we all would really like to see the addition of an impact rusher from the outside or even someone decent with 3/4 experience (roth) or someone really old(taylor) - but I really think we are all going to find out that Cunningham is really going to blossom and be that force we have been seeking for a few years now.

At the very least, he will be better than TBC, imho.

No because they never address it.I think this d-line is very questionable as well.I still have bad memories off Sanchez last year in the playoffs having all day to throw.

Well it's a good thing the Pats won't get screwed over that bad by DL injuries again for at least a decade.

People keep forgetting one simple thing: we went 14-2 last year. I think something liek 8 rookies played significant roles, and we didn't get much rush from our front 7. Imagine what life will be like with Cunningham, Spikes, Deaderick, and McCourty with a year under their belt?

14 and TWO! with no pass rush....

imagine if it improves only 10%?
