I'm not dying for a WR, but I think that you have to take a look at Young or earlier if Baldwin from Pittsburg is on the board, tall fast, good hands.
Which of the two do you feel would have a better chance of success in the Patriots system, given the other current receivers? I'm just interested in people's take around here.
Both could work out from a talent stand point, Young has a history of off-field issues.
Scrapes with the law and coaching staff early on, Boise did a good job of settling him down, but it's hard to see from our perspective whether he's matured or if a strong locker room/coaching staff helped protect him from himself. I've watched a number of games the past couple seasons and there's no doubt QB Kellen Moore had developed a close working relationship with Young and Austin Pettis that kept both receivers fully vested in the offense, but it also appeared Young was the more mentally fragile of the trio. Love him as a player, I just have doubts as to what NE's Personnel department will find when they dig into his head.what are the off the field issues?
I've just not watched him that closely, but NFL Draft Scout compares him to Deion Branch so you're probably correct.Seems to me that Jernigan would make more sense (in general, not in comparison to Young) if the Patriots were not planning to bring back Welker after his contract is up, because he seems like a player who could shift from slot to outside and back.
Anyone think I'm reading that wrong?
I watched Young and he screamed "Bethel Johnson Redux".
I haven't seen Jernigan, but I also don't believe the Pats need another WR right now.

Unless Taylor Price is the answer then the Pats do need another WR because Tate does NOT look like the answer. Now I don't believe we need to spend anything more than a 2nd or 3rd but our receivers were getting clamped down pretty handily by the Jets CBs in that last playoff loss. None of them were strong enough to defeat the jam or physical enough to fight for the ball when being played in tight coverages.
2006 Greg Jennings reminded me of Jerry Rice in the way that he ran his routes and made plays after the catch.
2011 Titus Young reminds me of Desean Jackson. If he's there late in the second round we have to pounce!
Based on what??? Definitely not his Senior Bowl game.. And, Young was doing too much body catching for my liking..
How do you know that Tate isn't the answer?? You can tell after ONE season??? You're crystal ball tell you that?
He may not have a crystal ball... but I assume he has two eyes...as do I. And nothing about Tate's game suggests that he is the answer at WR.
He is just too stiff in the hips. Reminds me of a slower Bethel Johnson.
Maybe you are seeing something different? I dont know.
Taylor Price seems like he may end up being the better player from what i've seen. But that's not to say he is the answer either... I just think he may have a little more upside than Tate.
