One of the things Brady said earlier this season was that they had to do a better job working Edelman into the offense.
Part of the problem is that most of the time, they used either Welker or Edelman, but not both, and it's hard to get into a rhythm when you're only getting 5-10 scattered snaps, and maybe one throw, a game.
No, he's not going to be a replacement for Welker, nor will he be a true deep threat, but I don't see why they can't get him on the field more. He certainly has enough speed and more than enough agility to do a lot of damage. [Remember his first pre-season game? 6 of 6 catching, and 5 of those 6 passes went for first downs.]
