OT: Broncos/McDaniels accused of videotaping 49ers practice

I kinda go the other way.

It sense reasonable to me to think that due to the logistics of the day, with both teams doing walk-throughs on the same day in an unfamiliar stadium, that Scarnecchia could have (innocently or otherwise) found himself in the wrong/right place at the wrong/right time and took it on himself to do a little recording.

I don't know McDaniels, or Scarnecchia, or NFL Football Operation practices, but the above scenario seems at least plausible to me.

But yeah, the whole thing has been overblown from the beginning.

I guess that's true. I mean, anything is possible. I wonder who reported it?

I hope dragging the Pats into this fuels Beichick and the team to crush the Jets. I want to see the heartlessness of 2007 return where Belichick wasn't happy with winning, but he wanted to embarrass his opponents.

now you pats fans, try and be unbiased in your replies to this post, try real hard

"McDaniels also worked for New England, but NFL Executive Vice President Jeff Pash said there was no evidence he was involved with the videotaping there."

what would your reply to that be, had it been the jets who were the spygaters, and not the pats

remember...be honest lol

you want to lose the superbowl by a fg again?

So...after McD's comments got leaked, I guess that will ruin some of the posters dreams of him getting fired and coming back here as OC.

This story is way overblown ... an error by Josh in not coming forward soon enough is all that was wrong. But he did the right thing in not looking at it - they lost the game.

If anything in that Super Bowl, they lost that edge. The difference is everything broke the day before the Super Bowl last year.

Mickey D was as good as gone before this taping incident.

The handling of Cutler and Brandon Marshall. He traded or cut Peyton Hillis and then traded for Lawrence "2 yac" Maroney. Since last season the Broncos have lost a lot of games.

Josh has made his share of mistakes—just as BB did in Cleveland (not the same ones, mind you)—although (A) he's not the GM there the way that BB is the de facto GM for the Pats, and (B) neither Cutler nor Marshall being traded can be "blamed" on Josh. Cutler in particular basically had decided that if he couldn't play for Shanahan, he didn't want to be a Bronco anymore; moreover, the fact that Denver was able to get two firsts AND a QB in return for Cutler is impressive.

Of course it's overblown and stupid, Pats fans want this to go away, any real fan would be embarrassed about their team having to cheat to win.

The Glazer report is even more embarrassing, the first time we saw any real details from what happened up there, this will only continue to cloud the Patriot franchise as fallout will now occur within the Belichick coaching tree.

It's funny to watch you guys go through all the denial.

If it was "practiced and coached", I fail to see how that makes things more embarassing. That says, to me anyway, that Belichick didn't know it was against the rules.

Typically, when people are knowingly trying to "cheat", they are trying to do so in a manner that very few people know about it. Belichick wasn't hiding anything = didn't know he was doing anything wrong.

Moreover, it or its equivalent was probably widely done in every coaching situation BB was ever in....from a lowly assistant on up.

I'm not sure what the big deal is. I thought it was widely accepted that BB and the Pats taped defensive signals over the years and used them after the fact in preparation of future games. I don't think this changes anything. I can't imagine people are trying to say that the Pats made a practice of taping walk-throughs given that teams hold those at their own facility and it has already been determined that they didn't do it before the Rams Super Bowl. I'm sure the media will still drag it up for the next week or so, but I'm not going to get to worked up about it.

No one seems to point out that SS was working for the Jets and Mangini during Spygate 1 so if he was willing to do it for McDaniels, maybe he was taping for the Jets too.

People want to say that McDaniels and Scarnecchia learned this from Belichick, but no one ever mentions where Belichick learned this practice. Probably because this would reveal the "problem" to be more widespread and move it closer to being the non-issue that it is.

That has always annoyed me, also. Like Belichick just woke up one day and said "Hey, I could record the defensive hand signals from an illegal location! I should try it."

not surprised denver would do this, they already lost a 3rd rounder and 500k when they cheated the salary cap haha

shanny said the broncos used to tape chargers practices from the hill overlooking ucsd. no big deal.

when referring to this incident, marshall faulk said the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. what that idiot doesn't realize is parcells is the tree.

Some of you are actually trending toward "completely butthurt" over Spygate still. Let it go. I say close this thread and move on as it really isn't that big of a story.

Right. Let it go. As Pats' fans we will never, ever, win any argument on this subject.
