McCourty DROY?

lol

You guys are going to knock Suh because his team gives up tons of points, yet at the same time the Pats secondary is one of the worst in the league.

That argument is just silly, both players have been awesome, however at the end of the day Suh will probably get it because he has sexier stats and is a more well known name.
And the Patriots secodary is 9-2. I'm sorry that you think the stats allowed while winning make you worse than allowing fewer yards while losing, but we are talking about real football, not fantasy football.

Oh so now we are just using wins as the sole indicator. Got it.

You are hysterical.

Notice that I said McCourty is awesome, just dont know how you can knock Suh because the rest of his team sucks.

He has been awesome this year.

Most seem to be "knocking" Suh (you can't even call it that) because he was completely taken out of the game today except for the first two series of the game while McCourty had two picks and has had five as a rookie playing in one of the more complicated defensive systems in the NFL.

How's Kyle Wilson going for you, by the way?

He ******* sucks.

Oh, I forgot the Lions have a HOF QB and head coach on their team.

Thats not the point.
The argument was that McCourty is a bad candidate becuase of yardage statistics of the secondary.
Actually the argument started as Suh has been annointed the DROY already and McCourty was a better player today.

No, we are using wins as a counter to the yardage statistics that you seem to be implying are more important.

No, truly a WTF pick to many Pats fans as well as national draftniks (which shouldn't be surprising for Belichick). Was projected as a 3rd or 4th rounder until like the last week before the draft when he moved up into the second. Compared to Suh nobody knew who he was.

Speaking as a draftnik, he was thought to be a late 1st/early 2nd rounder well before the draft. The surprise wasn't where he was picked, but that we were the team to pick him. With several major holes at other positions and seemingly set at CB, many thought there was no need to use our 1st rounder on a corner. Like most at the time, I would have preferred a different selection, but I've always felt that you must go after a CB if you really like the player regardless of the situation. Like with baseball, you can't have too many pitchers. There's not enough quality CBs in the league and they are incredibly valuable in the current state of the NFL, so it's always a good idea to take one if you like him.

I love McCourty, but teams gameplan for Suh.

The only game I saw of Suh aside from today was against the Redskins and he commanded a constant double team yet still made some plays.

NFL Network has a weekly rookie award and Suh is always one of the top candidates week in and week out. The guy is a freak. I would take him over McCourty in a heartbeat. And I love McCourty.

As good as Suh is and will be McCourty has more value to this team right now. I would take McCourty over Suh in terms of team need. Arrington, Butler and Sergio Brown as our corners with Bodden out? Man.. plzzzzzz.

I think Suh will take out the DROY but he and Earl Thomas have separated from the rest of the field to make it a ballot in three.

McCourty has outperformed the wildest expectations anyone had for him. Suh is what we thought he would be.

stride for stride on that pic, a rookie too.....very rare.

Might want to check out ProFootballFocus.com for their opinions on Suh.

They say for every big play, there's a play where he freelances and ends up 5 yards out of the play.

Reckon he's overrated because he's got the highlights.

Awards are nice and fancy but mean very little to me. Suh can have it.

Bottom line, we appear to have drafted a guy who will lock a side of the field down for us for the next 10years. That's good enough news for me

Seriously though, what are you baisng this on>? Suh was invisible today after making 2 plays. Many people think that 7 1/2 sacks makes a player., I say thats 7 1./2 plays in a season and you need to look deeper than stats.

And last week Suh was incredible most of the game eventhough his teammates weren't so much. This game doesn't make the season. Suh has been a disruptive force all year. It isn't all about his sack total. This guy if he progresses is going to be an elite d-lineman that teams have to gameplan around (if he isn't already).

If they gave DROY based on this week's game alone, McCourty would win. For the entire season, it is Suh. McCourty really didn't even enter the discussion as a serious contender until a few weeks ago because he was not as impressive early in the season. The only serious ROY candidate the Pats had prior to about three or four weeks ago was Aaron Hernandez who ironically has dropped out of the discussion the same time as McCourty has entered it.

I never got the love afair with PFF. Overrated site.

BTW, they have Joe Haden (who they have ranked 13th overall for all CBs eventhough he has mostly been a back up) and Alterraun Verner as stronger contenders for ROY. McCourty doesn't even make their top 10 rookies eventhough the other two do. In fact, the Patriot they had on the list of top rookies in previous weeks was Spikes, not McCourty.

Race for Rookie of the Year: No. 1 looks familiar | ProFootballFocus.com

Also in their list of Offensive players of the year, they have Josh Sitton and Carl Nicks on the list, but no mention of Brady. Brady isn't listed as in the mix of being just outside the top ten, but Ahmad Bradshaw is who is lost his starting job this week because of his fumbling problem.

If this information doesn't show how flawed their logic is, I don't know what does.

If people thought Suh had it locked up, today may have changed that. Suh was invisible (except to the penalty flags) after the first few minutes (and his D got 45 hung on it) of the game and McCourty was key to the win.

DAMN YOU MCCOURTY !!!! Couldn't you just let up for the last play!!!!

said well. I'm very pleased with what we have. I can only hope we have the same success dratfing a stud olb next year. After that there's no ceiling for this defense.

It's a decent site - but not for player grading. They completely disregard what a player's assignment might be (and they honestly don't have a clue), and simply grade him regardless. They produced an article on Suh a few weeks ago and started going on about him leaving big holes, completely disregarding the fact that Schwarz is using him almost purely as a pass rusher and wants him to get up the field and into the backfield as quickly as possible.

I saw an article recently which said when teams actually run at him, they're averaging just 2.7 ypc. That's immense.

Suh is going to be the DROTY, and deservedly so, despite what some would have you believe.

McCourty is having a great year. Hats off to him but I think I'd prefer it if he got no national respect or recognition. Better to be trying to prove you are great than thinking you are.
