Personally I don't think it's very likely, but some on this very board are already throwing around words like "massacre."

A million percent!

I've been chalking this game up as a loss since before the Cleveland game, but I don't think it will be a massacre. I think it will be a close loss. Our short passing and screen games, combined with Brady's accuracy and ability to avoid the sack are the perfect kryptonite against Pittsburgh's aggressive defense. If they keep blitzing their OLB's on every play then it's going to cost them some long long drives.

It's our defense's ability to stop Roethlisberger and their running game that I'm afraid of. That's where I think we lose the game.

It's more likely that the Patriots will blow out the Steelers: 38-0.

I saw this as a loss in the preseason, and I think it is still very likely to fall in that category. It will be close, though. Pittsburgh hasn't exactly blown everyone out of the water. The Steeler secondary is vulnerable, but Ben's ability to escape a pass rush, combined with Wallace's playmaking abilities pose a huge threat to what has been a weak Pats secondary.

Of course, I'm going to hedge my bets in the score predicting contest and will pick the Pats in that one. :D

I think squeelers will win by 10 pts......hardly call that a blowout.....It could go the other way as the Pats SHOULD BE pissed off losing to Mangina and his rook QB......and further pissed after reading the statements by the Brownie OL talking about how easy they were to run on.........But, being in Pitt....playing arguably the best team in the league with a very inconsistent team.....hard not to take Pitt in this game as f(king difficult as that is for me to say......GO PATS .....prove me wrong!!!!!

if the pats turn the ball over, it will be a bloodbath

I think Jermaine will cunningly ham Big Ben Rapistberger at the bottom of some pile, in that kind of way. And then we win by 9.

This OL will get Brady killed on Sunday

It could very well be ugly from start to finish

We need to get 4 ypc and get into more 2nd and 3rd and shorts than what we saw last week. It just looked like the team wasnt into the game, they were just going through the motions. Mix up the runs too, we again look way to predictable with that HB run off the left side, give me more draws and isos up the gut. Throw in some screens, end arounds, make the defense react because they blitz so good.

Defensively, bend but dont break baby. The Pitt offense is too good for this defense to hold down from moving the ball, if we can get jeff reed on the field for more FG attempts, we got a chance.

Unless Taylor is somehow miraculously ready to go, I expect to see more Woodhead than BJGE on Sunday night. I think he's the better RB of the two and, against an aggressive defense, should be the better option at RB.

you can forget the running game in this one....need to spread the field and throw.not sure if have the personnel or healthy bodies for it

I would love to see Woodhead used alot next week. Use him on draws out of the shotgun formation as well as out of the singleback formation. And use tate on a couple end arounds, who knows maybe we can hit a hernandez off the playaction to tate. Just keep pittsburgh off balance thats our best shot.

100% agree with you. Their running game is as effective as it needs to be and their line (while banged up) is no joke when it comes to run blocking. Pouncey is a beast and even their scrubs (Scott etc) are able.

Mendenhall will get his 100 yards unless we run blitz every play and even that might not stop him.

Oh yeah, I voted for a close game with the Pats special teams being the wild card here.

I predict Pats 17 Steelers 10!!!!!!!!!!

I had a dream last night that Deion Branch had a big game. Beat Polamalu deep on a nice play action from Brady for a 60-yard touchdown then later put the game away with a nifty TD on a reverse. Weird thing is when I woke up my Patriots DVD from the '04-'05 season was in the DVD layer and I watched it and the plays were just like my dream. Weird.

I don't see a BB/TB team getting blown out two weeks in a row, so I think the game will be competitive. That's not to say that I'm predicting that we win, but I'd be surprised if the outcome was more than two scores and if the game wasn't in play until late in the fourth quarter.

Pitt is a little overrated, but I'm definitely scared of their linebackers. They're the best in the league. Mendenhall could be a huge threat, too, but we've contained some pretty damn good runners this year. I think last week was just "that game" to get run over on. We'll see what happens on Sunday.

I have a feeling the numbers would be different if the poll were anonymous

I don't understand why some people feel this way before some match ups. It's like you've already accepted that they lost the game but the game hasn't even happened yet. We have the same record of 6-2. This is almost as frustrating as the people in the game threads that give up on a game in the 2nd quarter when we go behind by a TD. And yet people are 100% agreeing with you... :confused2:
