I hadn't really thought this at all until seeing the SOS stats in this ESPN article, but it appears we have had the 4th easiest schedule in the league so far with our strength of schedule being only .420 (only KC, Seattle and JAX have had easier). We're 6-1, but what does this weak SOS say about us.

For comparison the Steelers have the third hardest schedule so far based on SOS -- at .608.

So, raises my question... are we legit? Or are we 6-1 b/c we've been playing bad teams? Our opponents are apparently 21-29, whereas Pitt's opponents are 31-20. I know/get that by beating teams you pile up some losses on them which hurts your SOS number but still, the comparison to the Steelers is crazy in this sense -- teams they've played have won 50% more games almost, despite Pitt usually beating them.

Yes Baltimore,San Diego, and Miami are crap teams
and 0-7 buffalo will screw things up on there.

Don't know where you got your figures from but as far as i know the pats have the fifth hardest schedual in 2010. Does cinncy, the jets, Miami, Balmore, SD, and Minny sound like a cuo cake schedual to you? Clue most of them were near or at the top this year, and were not done.

SOS is crap.

@Miami, Baltimore, @San Diego, Minnesota

We won all those in a row. How can you look at that and wonder if we are legit?

I think these stats will be more accuarate at he end of the season. The Chargers will have a better record and so will the Vikings i bet. Regardless of the numbers we beat some solid teams.

frankly who cares...we will find out in december about all the teams

Funny, because before the season started I could have sworn everyone was saying that we have one of the harder schedules in the league. 6-1 is legit, I don't care what your schedule is.

Pittsburgh will be an interesting test. We had the 6th hardest schedule coming into the season, Buffalo has had some bad breaks and have come very close to beating good teams, us included, BUT the better teams won. I'm sure Cleveland will be a close game but with us being victorious. I feel that we are progressing very smoothly and even with a loss here or there, we still get experience, so it's a win win situation.

Of course we are "legit", we've been legit for a decade. We may not be the clear-cut best team in the NFL, but we sure as hell are a top team and will be competing for the trophy again.

SOS will be weak all season because of Buffalo, but Baltimore, Minnesota, Jets, Miami, San Diego, is a formidable 5. Only weak teams have been Cincy and Buffalo.

You can only beat who is on your schedule...simple as that

FINALLY someone is taking notice!

Yes, New England's schedule has been a cakewalk thus far.

And folks, SOS based on the LAST season matters until the day THIS season starts. The Pats are not playing teams from last season or their strengths from last season. The Pats are playing teams from THIS season and how they're playing right NOW.

And the fact is, THIS season, the vast majority of the teams they've faced have mostly been very weak or struggling. Baltimore is the only strong team they've beaten. You can say Minnesota, SD, etc, but the fact is those teams this season are BAD. Their record from last year means literally zilch. It's how they're playing currently.

Pittsburgh's 5-2 is much, MUCH more impressive than the Pats 6-1, especially when you consider that Pittsburgh got many of those wins with their star quarterback injured.

When the Pats start putting away some more .500+ teams, then maybe it'll be safe to say they're the best. But right now they've been beating up on teams at the bottom of the league.

That's a fact folks. Try and justify it all how you will. But it is a fact.

Facts?

So SD and Minny don't have a lot of talent? How about Miami?

I didn't realize that the league awarded Ws and Ls based on depth charts! Who cares how much "talent" there is if that talent isnt producing?

You're trying to tell me the Vikings are a good team???

And when SD kept making mistakes that peewee kids wouldn't be stupid enough to make, none of them counted because SD has talent right?

Face it guys, you've run up against TWO teams that are/were playing high level football when you played them. The Ravens and the Jets. One lost to you, one didn't.

The rest of the teams you've played are all bumbling and stumbling over themselves this year. Regardless of their talent, SD has been playing losing because they screw up all the time. Regardless of their talent, the Vikings have been awful and find ways to lose. Buffalo is a joke. Cinci is a joke. Miami is a decent team but not yet good enough to be a playoff team.

So why not just face it? The pats have played 2 good teams. Teams that are playing winning football. They're .500 against them.

Keep hanging on to last years numbers all you want. I'm sure at the end of the year when Minnesota missed the playoffs the league will let them in anyways based on last years numbers. Right?? Right??

I think we'll really find out in the next few weeks as the schedule gets pretty tough. Even the 2 crappy teams we play have had pretty big games

What was the Giants win percentage when they beat the 1.0000 Pats?

Idc about last season.
You're making it seem like the best team (I'm not saying we are) should win every game. Teams lose to teams they shouldn't all the time....does that make them a bad team?

SOS is determined by using the records from last year, NOT by prorating it week by week. Cincy won their division last year. Minnesota was within an interception by Lord Fatve of going to the SB. Baltimore embarrassed us at HOME in a playoff game. Miami is always tough at home, till inexplicably this year. The Jets made the playoffs and SD won their division? Easy as pie schedule, walk in the park? Gimme a freakin' break!

And the coward is back. Either shutup about it or name your team so we can compare schedules.
