Ugh, I'm done with Meriweather

I'm just glad to see some physical playing. I dont agree with illeagal hits, but good hard clean hits have been lacking. I hope it rubs off on the rest of defense.

There's nothing I can say that won't torn apart, but that's ok. All I can say is that in 7 games this season, Meriweather was sat twice by BB already. Meriweather has already admitted to free-lancing and not playing "Team" defense.

I really hope his good plays out number his bad ones since this season we are really depending on it.

I'm going to give you a bit of credit and say that you typoed the number of games they've played this season. It's only been 6 to this point.

While Meriweather was "sat twice" by BB, there is something you fail to acknowledge. That it didn't last. BB had Meriweather back out there. And that includes the Ravens game.

Yes, Meriweather admitted to Free-lancing at the end of the season last year and in practices prior to the start of the season. But, since that admission, he's been playing damn near perfect.. I've not seen him out of position except on the Heap hit.

All the players make mistakes. It's how they react to those mistakes that separates the good from the bad. Meriweather plays with passion and intensity that you don't find in many players. He's gotten better at focusing that passion and intensity, especially since the talking to he got earlier in the season.

Meriweather may go, but I doubt.

Not sure if this has been discussed, but Meriweather is finally on the "I'm ok with BB tossing his butt on the street" list.

The play that did it for me was yesterday against SD, Meriweather laid a nice hit on Crayton and then got up, all pumped, and did that stupid salute thing.

Problem, Crayton held on to the ball for like a 12 yard gain and a first down, and that play did nothing to stall the momentum of the SD drive.

It was like finger nails on a chalk board for me and just one more clueless act by Meriweather.

Good luck to you bud, have fun on your next team.

BM delivered a clean lower big hit, that was not sufficient to dislodge the ball. But that is all he is allowed to do, now.

Despite your complaints about the Chargers compiling lots of passing yards until the start of the 4th quarter, that was the game plan. BM played S well, completly within the gameplan, to insure no one scored after a dink reception.

The Patriots offered the short completion, to the Chargers, and they accepted; but did not score, just as planned. The Chargers obligingly screwed up as is the norm for the Chargers.

You can win all the battles and still lose the war. When Robert E Lee finally opposed Grant, that is exactly what happened. Lee won the battles, and Grant won the War.

Wow, sorry I ruined your day.

HUH? Where did you get that from?

You didn't ruin anything. You're posts only reflected poorly on you.

Incidentally, his friend is Willie Cooper, the guy who got shot in the ass during the course of Meriweather's firearm incident.

Yea, Meriweather possibly saved Willie's life, when he returned fire using his legal firearm, after a robber had shot Willie.

Glad to see Patriots fans have found someone new to hate on now that Moss is gone. Borges would be proud.

Every week there is always someone to make that Epic Fail thread.

Congratulations to TX Patriot ... this weeks winner. :pigsfly:

So is there where OP asks that Meriweather should be cut and then waits for everyone to agree with his spot on evaluation? :D

He said he did that for his best friend who joined the Army, and will do it every week for his friend. It had nothing to do with the hit or the play, just the first time he happened to be on camera.
And doesn't the OP feel stupid now......secondly I thought merriweather played very well yest and that hit on crayton made him think about coming across middle rest if game...great hit by BM

I've made a few in my day ... wanna get away threads that continually get bumped to the top. then one day there's new news and the thread falls into oblivion ... peace at last. I made one that lasted over a week ... I so prayed for new news but it was a quiet week. ;)

A safety who starts 10 yards then has to backpedal on a pass play comes and make a play 12 yards deep I don't think a 12 yard hit is bad it's good we play bend don't break. Bob Sanders Flex's his biceps after he make a tackle much stupider than a salute to a friend who he has went through a lot with. The guy is clearly classless not a team player and can't play football.

Your kidding me right? The play that did it for you was merriweather coming up and absolutely laying out crayton... but because he did his salute ur fine with him leaving... terrifically sound reasoning thank you for making this thread your definitely not on block

Am I the only one who kind of wishes TX Patriot was our GM?

The Gates should have been TD that was dropped was NOT because of Sanders tip or block but Gates facemask was the best defender on the play which it bounced off of....Sanders was beat to that spot.

I just watched the play again, and I'd recommend that you watch it too. Sanders got his hand in there and clearly broke it up.

Probably. I wish he was someone else's GM, so he could trade all their good players to us when he got mad at them for random things of no real importance.

Well if he and shmessy were GM's we'd be looking for a safety and a long snapper today ... and Favre is a short snapper so he's out of that loop.

Rational criticism is one thing. I'm fine with criticizing certain players, Meriweather included, when it's warranted (Koppen comes immediately to mind here).

There's a stark difference between reasonable criticism and stuff like this:

Great. He talks like a moron. Perhaps he missed his elocution class in college. You know who else talks like a moron? Chris Johnson. This is the NFL, not MENSA, so who the hell cares what he talks like.

Certain players on this board tend to elicit these types of visceral reactions from people. Now that Ben Watson and Maroney are gone, and bashing Sanders has sort of lost its luster, we can clearly see that Meriweather has taken their place as the Official Forum Whipping Post.

^what he said

Wow, I'm quite amazed at how many times I've been called stupid in this thread. All for stating an opinion...my opinion. Be it an unpopular stance, it's mine and I stand by it.

Not that I need to substantiate my fandom to anyone, but I've been a Pats fan for close to 30 years. I have family that lives 15 mins from the stadium and have been to many games. I was also at the Houston Super Bowl, but I apparently am not allowed to express my disappointment about a player on my favorite football team.

Regardless of how long this thread lingers, I stand by what I said. Meriweather lacks in-game awareness.

Flame-on...I'll keep reading.

With all of the issues that were on display during yesterday's game, the problem that MUST be addressed is Meriweather celebrating a big hit?

That's what some people took from watching that game?
