Brady calls out Gillette Stadium fans

It's all about the stadium's location. Kraft didn't have to put it there, but he chose greed over having loud fans that stay until the end of the game. JMHO.

So where is this magical land he was to build on??? He wanted Boston but the residents of South Boston did not want him. Also how is building a stadium with your own money greed?

Add me to the list of posters here pointing to the traffic problem. I usually get one or two pairs of tickets each year. I live a 2 hour drive away, if there is no traffic at all. If I take my son and he has school the next day, and it is a late game, do we want to leave early? No. Do we? Yes, because otherwise we are getting home at midnight or beyond.
By contrast, when we go to Fenway we hardly ever leave early, regardless of the score. Its just so much easier and quicker to get home from Fenway for us.
Several years ago, when I first tapped into my ticket source, my wife and I went to an afternon game. We left three hours before game time. As we were walking across Rt 1, which was of course still bumper to bumper as far as the eye could see, the first quarter was coming to an end. I am sure there were people at the end of that line of traffic who got to their seats halfway through the third Q.
And dont' get me started on the stadium design...everyone says, what a great place, and in many respects it is, but the reality is, the crowd noise goes up and out, not down to the field. That is a poor desing if you want to have a loud crowd...especially when the crowd is often going to be bundled up with gloves and scarves many games. The first time I saw a depiction of the stadium, I said, there goes our home field advantage :)

Don't waste your time. You're arguing with the same guy who posted this:"Then maybe Tommy should point a finger at Kraft's rapacious greed. (JMHO)." one week after Brady took accepted Kraft's offer to become the highest paid player in NFL history.

Agreed. I am always itching to beat the crowd out of any Gillette Stadium event for this very reason.

If you're going to make the commitment to take a day and go to the game might as well stay till the end. What's the time savings? In any case, I get home a lot quicker by staying till the end, less traffic at that point ;) Been a season ticket holder since 1994 and been going to games a lot longer than that and I've left a game early once. I make it to every home game, missed one.

Once again, Fenway is in Boston. Kraft wanted to build in Boston.

The other point on the stadium design is spot on. Why they don't enclose the sides of the stadium better is beyond me. ESPECIALLY the lighthouse side that DRAWS fans eyes to the parking lot - - like a beachfront picture window opening onto the oceanview. 80% of the stadium can't help but see the parking lot and the folks streaming to and from their cars. It's like a freaking flashing neon sign advertisement.

Kraft needs to put up sight barriers that will also keep the sound in. If folks don't constantly see the parking lot, I bet more will stay longer........that and FebruaryThirdOhTwo's idea about the PatPlace restaurant/store discounts for folks who stay to the end.

Well when tickets for the game are $150-$10,000 for seats you get the yuppy crowd. You lose your real fan base because of greed.

I know when I go to the bar or out for a game,I'm the loudest fan you'll ever see but I am not paying $150-$500 for a seat at the game I can't afford it and most people can't either but the yuppies.

It is what it is....Tell tommy to tell Kraft to quit being so greedy and lower the prices or don't complain cause you have a bunch of fake fans.

Can we stop with the open end, noise escapes, Gillette wasn't built to retain sound etc.. That stadium has been plenty loud see Chargers game in 2007 and Sunday's game among others. That stadium can get loud, unfortunately most fans in the stadium sit on their asses. Been there multiple times and often my group were the only people standing and cheering on the defense in our section.

You truly do not know what you are talking about. May I suggest you check around the league for ticket prices, parking etc... This is not a New England phenomenon its league wide and the players have just as much to do with it as the owners.

But calling out one of the few owners to privately finance their stadium as greedy, just makes you look foolish.

One of the guys we go with leaves early if he thinks it is in the bag so that he can go drink more (Gillette stops selling beer after 3rd quarter).

:eat2:

If i'm not mistaken there was a thread last week about Gillette having the second worse traffic problem of any stadium. Could that be it, could that be why fans leave early?

My point on leaving early to avoid traffic is: WHAT IS IT YOU HAVE TO HURRY AWAY FOR??? So you get to save 30 minutes of sitting in traffic if you leave in the fourth quarter. Big deal. It's Sunday, and you've already committed most of your day to a football game. You might as well stay for the whole freakin' game and get your money's worth! I NEVER leave early, but then I park a mile away in a private lot. By the time I get back to the car after the final gun, traffic has loosened up enough for me to easily get out. I don't see traffic as enough of a concern to leave the game early, whatever the score might be.

....facepalm.....

Good morning, Ilikehappyppl........I hope you had a nice 8 day nap. While you slept, "Tommy" signed a contract whereby the "greedy" Kraft has now made him the highest paid player in NFL history.

Show me one stadium that isn't significantly more empty in the 4th quarter of a blowout than a close game (especially week 1 of the regular season).

The best solution is to stay until the game is actually over and then tailgate some more. By the time we are done eating and drinking and hanging out with friends, the traffic is mostly gone (except for a little on 495).

It's cause the ticket stubs don't have pretty pictures.

Tom, you are lucky you are who you are. Only guy on the team who could get away with calling out his fanbase and painting the Jets as a better fanbase. Just an uncalled for stupid comment by Tom IMO.

Although the crowd itself sits on its hands too much in the stadium, Brady should point fingers at the owner too. He put 6,000 seats for corporate pink hats in the heart of both sidelines. Also, compared to the old stadium, the real fans (300 section) are much farther and higher than the field than the last section. I had 300 level season tickets in the old stadium and that distance away from the field now are club seats.

In the new stadium, my tickets ended up being corner endzone 200 level seats and they were far worse than my 300 level seats in the old stadium. This is part of the reason why I am no longer a season ticket holder.

I'm also still trying to figure out why the title on the front page is "Brady wishes fans were louder" when his only comment was the fans leaving in the 4th quarter when the Pats were up by 21...

So if everyone jumps of a bridge is Kraft going too to???

I'm glad Mr.Kraft privately finance his own stadium, its the right thing too do. You don't get kudo's from me for doing the right thing, your supposed too do the right thing....

Owners are greedy,so are the players, in the end the fan's suffer but someone has to lead by example, right?

I think it was very called for, we on here blast players for not performing well. Players have a right to state their opinion about how quiet the fans are and have been.

Please do not give me that Gillette does not hold sound well, because I have been to soccer games at Gillette with 15,000 fans that have been louder than Pats games.

Too many fans want to be scene at the game and do not actually care about the game. They want to be able to brag on Friday that they are going to the game to co-workers. Then brag about how the game was. I have seen this personally, I went to a game with a group of coworkers and I was the only one into the game. But yet on Monday these same people where telling others how much they were into the game, but actually spent more time twittering and talking on the phone.
