Add me to the list of posters here pointing to the traffic problem. I usually get one or two pairs of tickets each year. I live a 2 hour drive away, if there is no traffic at all. If I take my son and he has school the next day, and it is a late game, do we want to leave early? No. Do we? Yes, because otherwise we are getting home at midnight or beyond.
By contrast, when we go to Fenway we hardly ever leave early, regardless of the score. Its just so much easier and quicker to get home from Fenway for us.
Several years ago, when I first tapped into my ticket source, my wife and I went to an afternon game. We left three hours before game time. As we were walking across Rt 1, which was of course still bumper to bumper as far as the eye could see, the first quarter was coming to an end. I am sure there were people at the end of that line of traffic who got to their seats halfway through the third Q.
And dont' get me started on the stadium design...everyone says, what a great place, and in many respects it is, but the reality is, the crowd noise goes up and out, not down to the field. That is a poor desing if you want to have a loud crowd...especially when the crowd is often going to be bundled up with gloves and scarves many games. The first time I saw a depiction of the stadium, I said, there goes our home field advantage
