Jonathan has mentioned the realpatriots twitter account on air, that's about as official as it would get...

And Patrots.com has the twitter feed on the left hand side :)

Re: Patriots and Brady agree to extension

Re: Patriots and Brady agree to extension

Wow stupid me I didn't see the other thread I figured it'd be near the top. Sorry mods.

Re: Patriots and Brady agree to extension

Brady may be the highest paid player in the nfl. This contract starts in 2011, the same time as the start of other contracts which are likely to be higher. Perhaps if this year is included, the 5 year $78.5M, $15.7M per year is tops. Is it?

BTW, the guaranteed money isn't even as high as a rookie who has never played one snap.

What if there is no football in 2011, does Brady still get the guranteed money?

Great news. Now Brady is happy and can just focus on the football. He's worth every penny compared to others in the league.

Brady is the highest paid player in the NFL as of today by both total deal average ($15.7) and new money average ($18 vs. Eli and Rivers in the $16.7M range). They both had to honor the remaining year of their deals, too...

The rookie's money can't really be assessed in the same light since those deals have lots of performance requirements in the first two years before the majority of the money is truly guaranteed. Just ask Brady Quinn... I believe the true guaranteed amount on this year's rookie's deal is just under $25M pending how he performs. Remember Jabustus was reportedly guaranteed $40M but in the end walked away with (only ripping off Al for ) $32M.

Some of Brady's guaranteed money may be that funny money rolling guaranteed stuff due to the restrictions of the expiring CBA (reallocation rule). I would imagine what he will see that the kid QB's don't any longer is a substantial signing bonus in his hand this season that implicitly guarantees (via dead cap consequences) that he sees his remaining guaranteed money whether it is immediately fully guaranteed for both skill or injury or could not be.

Seems curious that they let King make the announcement. Unless they wanted to get the deal announced publicly during the first game of the season (assuming King had a segment available during the first game)?

Though, they didn't release the full $$ value until later.

So the "cheap" Patriots have issued the richest contract in NFL history? I think that the Brady and Wilfork deals clearly show that the Pats will pay their superior talent. It makes the mankins holdout seem even more at odds. I fully believe that if mankins had signed his 3.4 million dollar tneder that he would have been signed to a long term deal by now. This off-season alone the Pats have re-signed Vince to big dollars, re-signed Bodden to very nice deal, and re-signed Brady to the tune of 18-19 Million (said with my pinky finger firmly entrenched at the side of my mouth) Dollars a year.

Mankins has "Branched" himself and (I believe) that he won't play another down for the Pats. I thought that he would have been traded by now........but can we stop the "cheap" talk once and for all?????

With Brady signed, several questions...

1. What new fantasies do mediots write about now that Brady is no longer "unhappy"?

2. What do radio programs talk about now that 'cheap' Kraft has paid Wilfork $25M guaranteed and set records with Brady's money?

3. When does the media drumbeat start 24/7 with stories of Peyton being unhappy with no new contract?

1) Moss

2) Selfish Brady taking a huge contact and the team can't pay Moss, Mankins, etc

3) When monkeys fly out of my ass.

They've been giving guys big contracts for years. Seymour, Warren, Thomas, Colvin, etc. Of course it won't stop; it has nothing to do with reality.

See, here I was sitting and trying to remember where I had heard that he had one foot out the door and was headed to San Francisco. :bricks:

Good for Brady. Now go out there and kick some ass. Our defense looks like it will need all the help it can get.
