I think the Colts have drafted well. They needed to get better at DB, which they have done, and have someone that Howard Mudd can work with to replace Tarik Glenn (whatever we think of the Colts, their O Line and coaching is absolutely excellent). They also have Gonzalez, a guy with fantastic intangibles and real potential. Oh, and they took Pitc*ck, who potentially fills a need as a run stuffer.
I'm no fan of the Colts, but I am extremely wary of writing them off as SB contenders just yet.

What are you talking about?
You gave up your 2008 first round pick for a guard.
You didn't get SF'sfirst round pick. We own that!

You get a guard and you give up a first to get him?

What happened to all that talk about we dont needharper, doss, david, june, etc etc? We'll reload in the draft

Good pick.

LOL

For all the hype Polian gets for drafting and people have trashed Belichick for his recent drafts, Polian has wiffed on a lot of first round picks in recent years. Joseph Addai started out like a stud and turned into a dud. Anthony Gonzalez is falling down the depth chart. Tony OhOh is a bust. Donald Brown is not even a great change of pace back. The Colts' 2007 and 2008 drafts are less than spectacular. Their 2009 draft doesn't look to be shaping up to much better.

Re: The colts just gave up there 2008 first round pick for Ugoh

The Colts had 3 fourth round picks, so the loss of one to move up is fine with me. I'm not saying the Colts will definitely be picking last, but they do have a habit of picking around the end of the round. The Colts also have a habit of drafting a year or two ahead. So if Ugah allows they to save money under the cap on one of their FA linemen next year to pay the like of Bob Sanders, then I am all for it.

Why would the Colts want to continue to make room to pay Sanders? His last contract was the worst deal they have made. The guy signed a new deal two years ago and has played 8 games in two years. Sanders is an ALL Pro when he is on the field, but he is almost never on the field. Besides all these injuries may start to take its toll on his play sooner rather than later.

You're a little late in responding to his comment brah.

now this thread makes sense

Love the search feature ... it's especially nice when it shines some of our members in a very good light.

Colts get Ugoh for a 2007 4th and 2008 1st.

49ers get Staley for a 2007 4th and 2008 1st.

Good one, Colts.

Yeah, but we all know the Pats are gonna suck this year. Let's face it, 2007's gonna be a write off. 9--7 if we're lucky. I'm predicting it here.

Yeah, didn't realize that it was an old thread when I responded. Probably should have looked at the dates.

lol, When I clicked on the thread I was thinking "how the hell did the colts give up a draft pick from 2008??".

2007?...2007?...200..oh wait a minute! d%#*!@t! I paid good money for hyponitism therapy in order to wipe that year from my memory and this thread brought it back. Thanks a lot!

Looks like someone's about to eat a healthy plate of crow...

He may not become the best LT in years, but he's better than people are giving him credit. I watched that All-star game in real-time and off my DVR, Ugoh handled Anthony Spencer, one of the better pass rushers, just fine. I thought he did a good job, much better then Joe Staley who gave up three sacks to Jay Moore (two by blocking down and one getting beaten inside). Grabbing Ugoh was a good move by Polian, curse the swine.
