Banta Cain and Maroney comment on Hard Knocks

Disagree, but that's not the point. I think the comments are pretty benign, but the fact that they can be used to fabricate some bulletin-board material and BS headline means that they shouldn't have been said. That's been my point all along.

It's tough, though. You're asked a question and human nature is to answer it. These guy did pretty well all things considered. I'm sure these answered differed greatly from their true feelings.

"They're in our division, so it's going to be in the back of our minds that they're going to try to talk their way into a Super Bowl," Banta-Cain said after a joint practice with the Super Bowl-champion Saints outside Gillette Stadium. "We try not to worry about them. If [Ryan's predictions] is the motivation they need, then good for them. In the end, it all comes down to what you do, not so much what you say."

That should be someone's new signature. Awesomely done.

Of course. But when in doubt, shut yo face. :D

I'm trying to learn that myself. It's tough because I'm usually drunk.

Uh, not really:

"They're in our division, so it's going to be in the back of our minds that they're going to try to talk their way into a Super Bowl," Banta-Cain said after a joint practice with the Super Bowl-champion Saints outside Gillette Stadium. If they said no comment, the Post would have spun that too.

As for what they said, considering both have at least been to a SB and Tully actually has two rings for the two he played in, I don't have any problem with what they said.

It's all good. I just think it's funny that anything that appears from a Jet with quotation marks around it, no matter how innocuous, is shredded on this board, and people trumpet how the Pats just worry about themselves. But when a Pat says something that directly references another team's talking, and it is enough to lead to a sensationalistic headline, it's okay.

They could have not answered any questions, and the writer would have posted something along the lines of:

"Pats running scared as they won't talk about anyoneother than themselves!"

They've said nothing wrong or different from the usual Pats mantra. Deal with it.

Pretty benign comment, hardly bulletin-board material. Actually, it was a quite reasonable thing to say because there's truth to it. Still a non-issue.

Its never been the Pats style to engage in a war of words.

I totally agree with what Cain and Maroney said, but theres no reason to act like the Jets. Settle it on the field and talk after the fact. Thats always worked in the past.

Maroney has done nothing in this league to warrant to comment about anybody or anything - maybe he should concentrate on trying to become more of a factor in games instead of talking about other teams.

Heh, they had to go pretty far down the list of "prominent Patriots" to mine even those quotes.

Jets are going to collapse under the Titanic weight of their egos. What the Pats do or don't say about it is irrelevant at this point. Maybe a week before the game a gag order gets issued but before the preseason this is not a story.

This is the most inconsequential topic ever.
The Jets are on a mission to replace Howard Stern as the Kings of All Media.
Their own HC will make so many ignorant, stuipid, unprofessional comments in the media during preseason that Maroney could have said "Jets, I got your Jets right here" pointing or grabbing appropriately and it would be long forgotten by week 2.
What do you guys think, NFL players are tame laid back people who will barely show up to play unless you give them a quote to get plssed about, then you have no chance against them?
Even if that were correct, and the game is decided by bulletin board materail, we have 5000 bulletin boards full of Jet material by now.

Dude, that's awesome!

He's significantly better at his job than Green Bay's offensive line is at theirs ;)
