Banta Cain and Maroney comment on Hard Knocks

And mine.

They basically said "they have belief - but games are won on a Sunday". That was Bruschi's mantra for 13 years.

They've said nothing even remotely controversial. You've been suckered in by the headline and the resultant (laughable) commentary.

Only a fool cannot see that they made comments directly about Ryan and the Jets. Well done.

"They're in our division, so it's going to be in the back of our minds that they're going to try to talk their way into a Super Bowl,"

The Jets thrive off smack talk and controversy and I expect a response from the Jets very soon and for Belichick to put an end to it.

I see nothing wrong.....

actually, its time for this team to find its swagger. This is not a team of Older vets who have gone through the years of smack talking in there youth. this is a team full of young players and i expect them to behave like young player .

satz

Oh, God, someone brought up "swagger." We can't compete with the Jets in that category.

Pretty benign comment, hardly bulletin-board material. Actually, it was a quite reasonable thing to say because there's truth to it. Still a non-issue.

Tedy had swagger after a win, and it was almost always hilarious. Before a game he shut his cakehole.

I'm tired of this team not having any vocal leaders. Rodney wouldn't have kept his mouth shut.

I assume by "vocal" you mean "to the press."

Because they have several guys...Brady, Vince, Moss, Wes...who I guarantee are chatty in the locker room.

Speaking to the press isn't leadership; it's speaking to the press.

You know what's the funniest thing about this article? This line: "two prominent Patriots fired back at Ryan".

Prominent? TBC & Maroney? Isn't Maroney the odds on favorite to be the veteran pre-season cut? :)

Those are inflammatory comments? Oh my.

Count me as not caring. Pull the comments out of the surrounding garbage and I've heard nastier trash talk between four-year-olds.

Lighten up.

... Francis.

See what happens when you let a team beat you after 3 season. (that monday night game two years ago doesn't count:D)

They said absolutely nothing worth talking about. Moving on, sheesh...

Don't care. The answers sucked.

"We care about what the New England Patriots do." It works for everything.
That's almost exactly what TBC said.

Uh, not really:

"They're in our division, so it's going to be in the back of our minds that they're going to try to talk their way into a Super Bowl," Banta-Cain said after a joint practice with the Super Bowl-champion Saints outside Gillette Stadium. "We try not to worry about them. If [Ryan's predictions] is the motivation they need, then good for them. In the end, it all comes down to what you do, not so much what you say."

"They're in our division, so it's going to be in the back of our minds. That they're going to try to talk their way into a Super Bowl - we try not to worry about them. If that is the motivation they need, then good for them. In the end, it all comes down to what you do, not so much what you say."

Seems a lot less dramatic without interjections and bracketed additions and creative punctuation.

Disagree, but that's not the point. I think the comments are pretty benign, but the fact that they can be used to fabricate some bulletin-board material and BS headline means that they shouldn't have been said. That's been my point all along.
