I have 3 things to note with this pick.
1--Doesnt Florida have a Punter????
2--How will TB feel if they draft his alma maters PUNTER a round before they drafted HIM???
3--We did spend a 4th on the Ghost and he was definately worth it!

1. he is still in school(senior year I think)
2. he doesn't give a flying fudge, he just wants his punter
3. another punter just went in the 6th so he wasn't gonna be around until the Comp Pick

The Captains drafting is a leadership thing and I hope it is intentional.

You think??

Heard on Zo & Gresch or somewhere else that under Goodell's dictatorship, teams can be penalized financially or loose draft picks if players on their teams screw up.

Great pick. He can boom it and drop it inside to 20? Love it.

Florida has one of the best punters in the country but he is only a sophmore, ditto for Georgia's punter, Butler (Kevin's son).

Thats right, I'm so sick of awful punting that ive been scouting punters!!! Seems like a solid pick.

There's a reason we like Michigan guys... the climate they play in. I liked Mesko before the draft and like many other thought we needed a punter with a big leg for quite some time. At the very least he'll provide TC competition for the Aussie. This is from NFL.com...

Mesko is a four-year starter that had his best season punting the football in 2009. He averaged 44.5 yards in 52 attempts with 0 blocked. Mesko is excellent at dropping the ball inside the twenty yard line to pin opponents deep into their own territory. Mesko has good size and athleticism for the position with above average leg strength. Mesko has been effective in tough weather conditions and shows poise under pressure. He has been solid with his hang time and distance but isn’t an elite punter in this years draft. Mesko is a solid prospect that will likely get his named called late in the draft.

hey remember that mike sciferes almost single handidly beat the colts in the playoffs a few years ago. if zoltan does what scifers does, i will be very very happy. this league is all about field position.
i will be very happy if he doesn't hit those 30-yarders I've come to hate.

From the Pats twitter:

Zoltan has a lot in common with most Patriots fans ... His favorite player in the entire NFL is TOM BRADY!

Negative: Very slow getting the ball off his foot. Overall punting lacks quickness. Looks terrible during Senior Bowl week.

Thankfully Bill Belichick and staff look over the whole career of player
not just one game. ;)

Saw that he takes two steps, but still he never had a blocked punt (per NFL Network).

Probably has a transition phase into the NFL, but has a ton of time to practice while the other rookies are learning the playbook. Fingers crossed this kid can play at an elite level.

Whats his 40 time????;)

good pick the pats now have a good young punter

Maybe BB thinks that if he makes Zoltan swallow a quarter, Wes Welker will grow to be 6' tall overnight.

Only downside I can see is if he can consistently one step it. I see some video of him taking more than one step, and if you do that at this level, you get beheaded.

Wow a 6'4" 240lb punter! Maybe BB is planning to play him at OLB as well. ;)

You beat me to it!!! He also ran a 4.75 forty, so i can see him tackling a little.

Good pick. Happy to get him.

I wonder just how much more trouble it will be for the opposition to handle his punts because of the spin rotation being opposite to what is usual? Are there other left-footed punters in the NFL? If it leads to even one additional mis-handled punt per season that would still be a big advantage.

Interesting point.. would be difficult for other teams punt returners to practice for..
