Gasper: Don't Bash Brady

Me get real, you're acting like Brady stole your girl then kicked your dog all because he's not at an OTA in March.
All I have to go with is years past......take a look man................

Whatever happened to the " We are here showing solidarity, we are a TEAM, we show by example" etc......?

Does that not apply anymore because he has a wife that can fit in a door crack?

Excuses are for losers, they work 2/3 of a year if they are lucky, and they make a ton of $ doing it, meanwhile the rest of the slobs that pay for his BLOATED salary have to work their asses off year round.

No sympathy here, sympathy line is over there>>>>>>>>>> with the losers.

I would agree with all of this if Brady missed something mandatory

I agree with the article though. It's optional, and as banged up as he was last season, I'm fine with him taking all the time he needs

**** it.....

I'm on the Tebow wagon now.

He is a determined SOB w/ a winning attitude.

Brady is a bit soft now...... Tebow can play TE, FB , QB

33 this coming season. I do not want a "Farve figure" in NE like it was in GB.

I don't want Brady as a QB come 37

According to you, because Brady is a bit soft he no longer has the ability to lead the team to the Super Bowl and Tim Tebow does?

Favre had one of his best seasons ever this year after playing a career outside in GB

Expecting Brady to be incredible later in his career is foolish, but it's not impossible. Tim Tebow is not the answer though, not be a long shot

Reading comprehension being among the many deficits experienced by some members of this board, perhaps this sysopsis will make it easier for you to grasp what Gasper was saying...

Know this: Brady plans to be in Foxborough at some point during the offseason conditioning program, and it could be as soon as next week.

Locker room unrest was a problem last season -- for the Patriots defense. It's something Wilfork and linebacker Jerod Mayo can fix, not Brady. A quarterback, no matter how good, can't be expected to be the leader of a defense. That was never the case for Brady's Patriots career, during which the defensive leaders were Bobby Hamilton, Willie McGinest, Tedy Bruschi, and Rodney Harrison.

Belichick understands the important of being a visible parent -- and when one of your children lives 3,000 miles away from where you work, which is the case with Brady, the offseason is the only time you can do that for an extended stretch.

Taking time out to be a parent doesn't mean you've lost your edge. If that's the case, then Belichick lost his a long time ago.

Lots of players never train with the team. A very few remain here year round, and their kids grow up living here. Many commute to the off season program from off season homes where their wives and children prefer to live, flying in on Monday and out on Friday. Some guys are leaders, others are followers. Seymour never trained here. Just didn't want to. Neither did Law. Apparently Vrabel didn't either. Rodney split his time between training at home and Foxboro. Tedy lived here but never won the parking spot... Brady won it when he could. Now he can't because he has a situation that requires he be in LA for a specified amount of time each off season if he wants to have extended visitation with his oldest child. Ty Warren chose to go back to school this off season. In Texas. He will only be here for mandatory OTA's. Tom has made no such pronouncement.

Tom is building a home in LA. He is also looking for a larger, kid friendly home in the Boston area - which is why the condo is for sale. He and his wife also sold all their properties in NY over the last several months because they now intend to live in Boston except when they are vacationing or in LA to spend time with Jack in the offseason. Honestly, some of you are such drama queens...

Would it be best if he were here from day one this off season...possibly, but as Gasper said the unrest in the locker room didn't emanate from the offense last season. Would it be best if Ty was here from day one this off season...you betcha, unless he doesn't see himself as a team leader on this defense that was sorely lacking any last season.

FYI I can't think of a player who had the means who hasn't had an off season home down south or out west or wherever they came from since this team of the decade first set foot on a field in 2000 other than Tedy and while he was here Rosie. The money these days allows for it. Troy's wife and kids lived in SC year round because she worked as a chemist. Willie Mac had his home and a business in LA. Drew used to spend his entire offseason fishing in Montana...

It's not a coincidence that the first time Brady wasn't a Patriots' offseason award winner was 2008. That was the off-season following the birth of his first son, Jack, who lives in the Los Angeles-area with his mother, actress Bridget Moynahan.

And while it may not be a coincidence, that wasn't the only reason that year either. Because after the undefeated season and loss in the superbowl, Belichick told Brady to get away from the game and take time to recharge his batteries because he didn't want him to burn out under the mental as well as physical pressure he put on himself to lead this team...He told that to several other veteran leaders after that season as well. Stupid BB, what does he know...

Time to start grooming someone that WANTS to be in ANY team oriented stuff.
Tom used to be like that, it was a big deal- team chemistry, yada yada yada... now there are excuses..
Team chemistry isn't important anymore?
Lead by example?
Or is it IDGAS, I can do MY stuff here at home with my wife..........
Whatever they are it's time for Billy to SERIOUSLY start looking at his sucessor.

Yeah, let's move on to our next HOF Top 5 of all-time QB.

Was he HOF when he was popping pimples on the sideline waiting for his shot?
Get real man, you don't just DRAFT these guys from a lineup when ya need them........
I can't believe that this is even being discussed..........

Casserly and Mayock were just discussing Tebow. Casserly says he watched film and talked to some scouts and he is convinced that Tebow's throwing motion is the least of his worries. Says he doesn't see the field or receivers and he makes poor decisions. He thinks all told he just won't ever amount to much and should not be drafted early. Mayock says he disagrees, based largely on his recent development blowing him away, he just thinks he will develop into a starting QB... in 3-4 years... Casserly also says while you can improve mechanics dramatically in practice settings, you will lose them when your tired or injured, etc.

Of course Mayock was in love with Cutler and Charlie was lambasted because Houston went with a DE instead of Vince Young...

I believe that the rumor is that he is there per court order as far as the custody-sharing agreement was dictated. IIRC last time he had Jack here, and now it's his turn to go out west.

But never mind, let the wild insinuations continue.

What we need is leadership. If he's hurt then get treatment in Foxboro, and by his appearence he shows the youth this is how we do it as a Patriot. The guy is tough, HOF, and key cog. But he's had plenty of time off for family matters. Anyone else and we would be crucifying him. Should be no different for the key leader. These are mandatory.

I know a lot of people on this board thinks Mayocks word is gold and BB thrashed Casserly earlier this year so his opinion doesn't matter but only one of those guys guys ran an NFL team and his last name wasn't Mayock. When it comes to Tebow, I have to agree with Casserly on this.

Anyone else and you wouldn't hear a peep about it. Why isn't Ty Warren getting ripped a new one. This camp is not mandatory FWIW.

Whatever.......
I feel he should be working, he feels otherwise.
SuperBowl Year workouts tell me I may have a clue.
Excuses are weak.

Rest assured... you have no clue [regarding this matter].
