I agree that taking a 4.4 million cap hit in 2011 isn't desirable.
Neither is letting him sign with the Jets who are restricted due to restrictions placed on them in the uncapped year. The exception to these restrictions is that they are free to pursue players that get cut...
So we probably shouldn't cut him.
So 4.4 M is not good, but 10M for a crappy disgruntled player's service IS GOOD? Are you smoking something?
4.4M is a cheap price to say sayonara to this jerk.
-If they let him go, they could take a big cap hit in 2011 or 2012
-He still is better than anything else they have or can get in the draft
-I do not want to see him playing on the JETS
-Hopefully BB can make amends and get him back into the picture
Since there is no real benefit to cutting him now (other than to the Jets and to him), you can bet that if BB does cut him, it won't be until about five minutes before his 2010 salary would be guaranteed. AD should ask Tom Jackson if he thinks Belichick is the forgiving type.

Depends how the offseason goes. We already need an OLB, if BB can't find 2 others by season start that he can trust as fulltime contributors keeping AD might be our best option.
Is Shawn Crable finally ready to contribute?
There are five and a half million benefits to cutting him now.Since there is no real benefit to cutting him now
People keep saying this. First, keeping him costs his 5.5 million dollar salary. Second, he sucks. Who cares if he goes to the Jets? Let him suck there for $5.5 mil.I don't want to keep Adalius. I also don't want to let him walk and join the Jets where he could hurt us. Keeping Adalius doesn't cost us more than a workout bonus.

Signing TBC is unrelated, other than they are both rush linebackers. If we can sign TBC great.
Cutting Adalius in the uncapped year means that his 4.4 million 2010 cap hit doesn't matter, but we aren't able to accelerate the entire 8.8 million in dead money into the uncapped year. 4.4 million needs to be accounted for in 2011 and 2011 is likely to be capped and with a total cap figure lower than 2009.
It is probably still the right thing to move on, but since all the money is already sunk into Adalius there is no urgency to release him early.
I don't believe there is a credible trade market for Adalius because he is overpaid. If Brandon Marshall is worth a 2nd rounder and Anquan Boldin is worth a 3rd rounder... then Adalius Thomas is worth exactly nothing in a trade unless we trade with Seattle for Deion Branch where we are essentially exchanging toxic contracts and I don't see that happening.
We'll cut or keep Adalius based on how he performs in our training camp. I'd personally make him run a lot of laps.
