Does anyone think Belichick will resign?

My fear is just the opposite: he will continue to misjudge his talent as he did this year, and we will be in for more performances like the one we saw today. This game was inexcusable, but one can only hope that it opened his eyes to what he has. It is a soft, finesse team with few playmakers, no toughness and no fight.
Get ready to get blasted in 3....2....1.......

Belichick doesn't have the "fire" he seemed to possess in the past and I like the idea of him moving to the front office. If he could only get one of his old assistants, like Kirk Ferentz to come over to the pros.

Every, repeat every, offseason the Patriots are the oddsmakers favorites to win the Superbowl for one reason, BB. If BB walks, the party is over. Remember how many Superbowls the Patriots won in the franchise's history without BB?

The game seems to have passed him by. The defenses are plain and can't stop anything, not even the run. The offenses are horribly predictable. The raven's MLB said he knew what the pats were running and knew their audibles, whicfh were real and which were fake, just by the formation etc. It's that bad. It's a high school level of sophistication.

It's Ok to wonder if Belichick is sick of coaching, but that's about it. It's the lack of personnel and turnover (some of which was necessary) which put them in a tough spot Sunday. Tough to say that Belichick suddenly is out of touch with the league. He's no dinosaur - he's a guy who the vast majority of the league emulates.

We can talk about the 83 yard gain which came with a defense who didn't seem to be ready on that first play of the game, but other than that two of the other touchdowns came with the defense pinned deep in their own territory with not much yardage behind them. They were put in bad situations. Otherwise considering the youth and experience overall they played pretty well this season - which the coaching staff obviously had a lot to do with. Hard to call them "terrible" considering how well they played overall this season. Plenty of other teams were home watching that game on television wishing they were still in it.

So if you want to speculate on whether or not he's getting sick of coaching that's one thing. Saying he's washed up is another - and grossly untrue IMO.

No, I guarantee he does not resign this year.

Next idiotic post playoff loss topic...

Its not idiotic at all chief....it is a fair topic. Like many have said, most great coaches reach a burnout stage after about 10 yrs........like Bill Walsh........BB has put more time into his coaching prep than anyone....it is a fair question to ask "how much more" is he going to be able to take and perform at that legendary level.

Now saying "Lets trade Tom Brady....he sucks"....THAT is idiotic post playoff bs......

I don't think there is anybody out there. I'm just saying, it won't ruin my day.

Oh, no one else out there and it wouldn't ruin your day if BB walked away.

Clearly the kool-aid has been replaced with stupid pills.

I dont understand what you mean by his lack of fire? Listen to the WEEI interview he gave last Monday and tell me if that is a lack of fire...

yes .he has made bade decisions in the draft etc. .but name 15 teams which consistenlty are in contention every yr in this era of free agency and continously picking in top 10 for teams. its hard to sustain sucess than to achieve it .he has lost a lot of coaches and the present crop isnt good enough. I trust bb self scouts himself more than anyone .We have all heard how he hears ideas from everyone when things were going well. now its passed him by?We are just spoilt by 5 yrs of lack of successes.
If he is run of of town then it would be a sad day .

yeah and when he craps one game we will be asking why bb isnt helping out or coming out coaching to help...please...BB is the least of the problems here. team as whole is a different story.

No coach is perfect. He had some hits this year and some misses. I think Belichick misjudged the fact that he could get an OLB in either Peppers or Jason Taylor. In fact, I think he fully expected Taylor to be a Patriot. When he decided to go back to Miami, Belichick had to scramble.

But Belichick did make hits on Bodden, Ninkovitch, TBC, and McGowen (at least for the first half of the season). His draft did produce several potential long term starters.

i suggest a stickly thread about "who all should be fired and let go" and collect all of it and move it to the practice squad.

Okay, so here's my question to some of you who think BB should retire, or question HIS fire to coach any longer. If he does leave, who the **** can we pick up that is going to do a better job? Honestly?! Want Pees or O'brien to step up and take over? C'mon now. Look around the league. Good coaches that can actually field a competitive team yr in and yr out are extremely rare.

The loss today, and this season as a whole was pretty disappointing. I'll agree with that, but if BB leaves, we can only expect to get worse. One thing we have as a fan base that nearly every other fan base in this league doesn't have the luxury of enjoying is that going into any yr. we know this team is going to at least be competitive. Hell, take this team we fielded this yr. throw in a different head coach and we win 7-8 games max.

BB's staff has been gutted nearly every yr now since our SB days. He needs more help. Plain and simple.

Unfortuantely, threads like these are like a horror movie. You kill this one and two more just like it pop up in its place.
