Does anyone think Belichick will resign?

I hope this day never comes. But watching him today in the presser, he looked drawn, frustrated, and really burned out. I just wonder whether he still has that coaching "fire" in the belly that is needed and that he still wants to put he and his family through it. Recently, we have seen Cowher, Shanahan, Holmgren etc etc step down after burning out. I hope BB is the coach of this team for a long time.....but would not be shocked if he walks away after this year.

For two years I have been saying it is time for him to go. Why would you want to stick with a coach who is clearly taking his team off a cliff. If Miami gets a QB next year I predict we will come in 3rd in our division in 2010.

I raised that issue in another thread. Suprised I haven't been hammered for it or banned as a troll.

The game seems to have passed him by. The defenses are plain and can't stop anything, not even the run. The offenses are horribly predictable. The raven's MLB said he knew what the pats were running and knew their audibles, whicfh were real and which were fake, just by the formation etc. It's that bad. It's a high school level of sophistication.

Did you listen to him on WEEI last Monday? That did not sound like a guy that is burned out. He was more excited for the playoffs than ever before.

More likely he is ready to sh!t can half this team; I'm sure Belichick is well aware of players stopping listening to the same old coach but with players moving around so much that's likely kind of moot now. Where do they go from here with regard to totally rebuilding or trying to continue the semi rebuild with Brady getting older, who knows. I don't think Belichick leaves but you never really know.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind it. His game plans and personal decisions have been pretty bad after 2007. And no, I'm not really upset about the loss today because I knew it was coming after the poor draft and other off season moves.

I've raised the point as well. 10 years is a long time, and even the best tend to burn out. Bill Walsh is a good case in point.

I think BB has to take a hard look at himself and whether he still has that fire in his belly to go through rebuilding this team. As far as I'm concerned, he and Bill Walsh are the 2 really elite coaches I have ever seen, and I would not want to bet against BB if he were committed. But if he decided that he needed a rest, or a break, or a fresh start, I wouldn't be surprised.

I did get the memo. I had hoped that Shanahan would still be retired, until Belichick decided to move up, and he would give Mike a call. Too late.

Shanahan would've fixed up our running game..

Bill respects Mike and vice versa. That's why it would've been a great team.

I can't see that happening until Brady's gone. Especially going out like this, it's just not going to happen. He's always sounded awful after playoff losses none of them have been any different IMO.

The guy went 18-1 two years ago. 11-5 without Brady last year. 10-6 this year without players who can mount a pass rush and no depth at WR. Yet, the game has passed him by? Seriously, it isn't like this team went 5-11.

People went into this season saying it was a transition year for the defense and the offense was going to have to carry the defense. Unfortunately, the offense couldn't do it with a rookie signal caller, Fred Taylor going down so early in the season, and Galloway turning out to be as big of a bust as he was.

Belichick is still relatively young. He still has Brady. He is still one of the best coaches in the league if not the best. Let's stop this overreaction and allowing the trolls (and yes I think some of you are trolls) continuing these ridiculous thread.

Belichick will retire from coaching at some point, but not now and not in the near future. He was raised to be a coach and it is all he knows how to do.

My fear is just the opposite: he will continue to misjudge his talent as he did this year, and we will be in for more performances like the one we saw today. This game was inexcusable, but one can only hope that it opened his eyes to what he has. It is a soft, finesse team with few playmakers, no toughness and no fight.
