I wonder if he meant both 2011 picks or 3rd in 2010 and 5th in 2011.

That is actually pretty fair considering the Pats won't have to give up anything for 2010.

Great news. The pass rush was really my only worry about this year's team and I think Burgess has a good shot at double digits in sacks if he can stay healthy.

Draft picks are nice, but winning a Super Bowl is a lot more nice and Burgess increases our chances significantly with his pass rushing ability. I'll give up a 3rd and a 4th to improve our biggest weakness for this upcoming season.

Could be, certainly. And I'm sure there will be plenty of whining about the compensation. But...assuming Burgess comes through reasonably well, this roster is just unbelievable.

Actually stealing the trade from the Iggles may sweeten the pain of the compensation, though still hoping for a 4th and some (but it does look like 3rd or worse)

As a part-time player, Burgess last year had 18 pass hurries. No Patriots defender had more than 11 hurries.

The price is somewhat irrelevant, imo. Who would now disagree with the decision to give up a 4th for a season of Ted Washington in 2003?

I would've happily given up a 3rd and a 4th for Burgess - not every year, but given the fact we have so many Day One picks in 2010, I'm completely fine with this, and if Lombardi's right, we got an even better deal. Love it.

a 3rd and a 5th... so if we win the superbowl the year before, it's almost like a high 4th and a high 6th... Even if the 3rd is this coming drafts the extra 2's take alot of the sting away. BB will probably use a 2 to move up or down and maybe we'll gain a pick by it... or maybe there won't be many holes to fill in 2010/2011?
