Pats rumored to be trading out of 1st round now...

I would think if we trade #23 we will either trade it for a
(1)2010 First Round Selection OR,
(2)To move back in the draft to around 40ish

If scenario 2 occurred, the draft value chart says #23 = 760pts....#40=500 and #72 = 230 points (that teams 3rd round selection)...#136 (38pts) we would have for example

34, 40, 47, 58, 72, 89, 97 (untradeable), 124, 136, 170 (untradeable), 199, 207 (untradeable), and 234 (13 picks)

Here, it'd be fun because you know we would have to trade a bunch of picks. What I would do is try to trade another few picks to get into the 2nd round for the 5th time

Example

Trade 72 and 89 and the value chart gets you all the way up to 53. Add 124 and 136 and that gets you all the way to 44. Obviously you need a team willing to trade, probably one that is short on Picks. Washington wouldve been great had they had a 2nd rounder.

This would give up 34, 40, 44, 47, 58, 97, 170, 199, 207, 234 (10 picks)

We'd probably still have to trade some picks

May happen (there's much recent precedent of course), but I this is PFT guesswork, imo.

Ugh, it's beginning to look like a wholly uninteresting day.

We would still have 3 picks, and that's if they don't get another 2nd rounder this year. Most teams only have 2.

If the Pats are really targeting a LB or S it would make sense for them to move down. The value at that position is really in the early 2nd.

I've already said I would rather them trade out and get a 1st round pick next year when we are going to need quality players with all the FAs possibly leaving.

The next rumor is that the Patriots will look to trade all their picks so that BB can go to Bermuda for the weekend.

Trading all their picks would definitely free up some time to do that!

Pats just doing their due diligence, looking to find value....

Consider Gosselin's 3rd mock. He is the best over the past 5 years at doing the 1st round mock, even though he has us choosing the BPA this year, and everyone thinks he's an idiot because CLEARLY Belichick doesn't pick the Best Player Available.

The value at 23 is Jerry, Maualuga, Wells, Hood, E. Brown, and D. Brown. I'd be fine with this choice. Perhaps belichcik would rather consider trading down.

When things settle out, I think the Patriots will have one pick

per round. There is a good chance no more than four draftees

make the team.

Whoah. If they can't get in to the top 10 then there's nobody they like?
Please. If this people's first NFL draft?

Every year every team sets up parameters of trades ahead of time. "Look, if I want to move up/down to your spot when you are on the clock, what will it take? Will you take this?"

They did it when they had 15 minutes to make a trade, and now that there is only ten minutes, it is absolutely necessary to set them up ahead of time.

The Patriots most likely worked out many deals to move both up and down.

Just because only one was reproted yesterday, don't think it was the only one. And just because another was reported today, don't think it was a reaction to yesterday's report.

If everyone else is gone, I could see the Ptas trading down #23 is right about were Heyward-bay should go, the Giants want him, so the Pats could move down 6 spots and pick up another pick, or trade out all together and pick up another #1 next year.

I still think that they trade #34 for a #1 next year.

Well they've officially covered all the bases now. NFP is reporting the Pats will not trade up or down and will in fact draft at number 23. You'd think they would figure out that no final decision has been made and that it will depend on players available and offers made. I would have put the link put I dont have enough posts.

I still think BB has targeted a specific player, but is not seeing that player dropping to where it is feasible to get him. So BB is exploring other options.

A playmaker or difference maker is what BB wants to take out of day 1, but there are so few of them in this draft.

After the OT's, Jackson and Crabtree, there is not much available as far as difference makers go.
