Funny thing -- whenever I think of Kevin Faulk, I think about him going for 8 yards. On third down, run or pass, he's good for 8 yards. I wonder if he holds the team record for 8-yard gains.
I like when the play call ends up with an LB covering Faulk. Good things happen. In fact, there's a "not small" list of killer plays he mad this year. My fave was snagging a tipped pass that wasn't intended for him.
In trying to find a picture of that, I found this one. It caused a bit of a
Its not an either/or in reality though. How about Faulk and Taylor?
Faulk is not less important this year. The guy is clutch, I've made the mistake in the past of thinking he was a function of the environment. Hells no, he is the unsung hero of this team. I like BJGE, but he doesn't even qualify as a "JAG" yet, he's a guy with "JAG" potential. Faulk is a game changer, defenses fear him on 3rd down.
Faulk is still the best receiving back on the team by far. I don't see how he's going to be less important this year. He's been one of the most valuable Patriots for years now. He's easily my pick.
I chose Jason Taylor cuz I don't see how Faulk isn't on the team this year. Therefore, it comes down to Ray Lewis versus Jason Taylor. I think JT is a better fit for the Patriots, when you consider the dollars, and years that would have to be committed to each. A better pass rush, which the Pats don't have, would help our mediocre secondary cover.
Slam dunk. I truly marveled at Faulk's clutch play this past season, this guy seems to get better with age. He is an amazing blocker in the backfield, a solid runner, a great pass catcher with a real knack for moving moving the chains, consistently makes good decisons and is a great locker room guy.
Ask yourself one question; When you abosulutely need to convert on 3rd down, is there another rb in the league you're rather have back there than Faulk?
