Randy Moss's blocking appreciation thread...

holy crap. I started this thread to praise him for doing the little things and this is what I get?

How come you never started a thread praising Gaffney for blocking? Just saying, aren't you thanking Moss for blocking because you are under the false assumption that Moss had not been a team guy willing to block in the past?

emoney is right on the money (...hehe...sorry couldnt it help e...:p)

...but so true...this thread should be for Gaffney because he really is the best blocking wide receiver on the team...

I will borrow one of signbabybrady's word....

Yeah but you sound very "sanctimonious" in your praises...get it now?

No, I'm praising him because he did an especially awesome job run-blocking THIS WEEKEND. He was in on several downfield plays and he got it done!

Honestly, I am BAFFLED by the response to this thread. What on Earth is wrong with you people? Moss did a great job, he showed up BIG-TIME in the blocking game, and I am acknowledging that, just like we would LOTS of little details in a game, just like I've done for YEARS.

I don't get it.

Listen, Dakevdude, oh ye of 124 total posts, I did not intend to sound in any way sanctimonious in my praise of Randy Moss. I love the guy. I think the fact that you, and a couple of others, have been defensive and read something into my comments is unfortunate. I intended for this thread to be simply about a great job done in an aspect of the game that doesn't often get much spotlight, by a guy who has in the past been questioned about not doing the unglamorous "little things."

Had I known it would invite such hostility and willfull ignorance, I would've kept it to myself.

I don't get it.

sanctimonious praise example:

"He did a heckuva job on several plays. Awesome to see him hustling and displaying the kind of teamwork that he has in the past been justifiably vilified for. Great work."

My question is why would you say this? Because its what you have heard from the media in the past? Have you seen all of his past games? (I have)

Believe me...as great as Moss is...he's a front runner...he will pout with the best of them and will go in the tank if he's loosing...

That's the different between this team and others...which is Belichick runs a tight ship and would never let the Patriots have excuses for loosing games...

You think Moss would put in the same effort if this team was 3-13? He's the same guy he always been...just not as hot headed like Satchboogie3 said...

Randy Moss has, in the past, dogged it. Why anyone here would ever deny that is beyond me. I've WATCHED it. He hasn't hustled and he hasn't always blocked downfield. Not a crime, not a huge deal, and I'm certainly not saying he NEVER blocked downfield until he came to N.E. The fact that that aspect of my post was tangential, at best, is pretty obvious. The fact that you're hanging onto it like a dog with a bone, however, is downright embarrassing. What is, then, the difference between "sanctimonious" and presenting a comprehensive viewpoint?

He doesn't do it as much because Belichick and the Patriot Way don't really allow for crap like that? It encourages players to strive to hustle and block and do the little things as often as can be expected? NO KIDDING. The two things are not mutually exclusive.

Oh, and BTW, you want ACTUALLY sanctimonoius? Let's start with "loosing" games. Run along, genius.

Well now you sound condesending...

"124 total posts"

I became a Patriots fan when Randy Moss joined the team just as I became a Raiders fan when he went to Oakland...even if I'm a Vikings fan...

Even though I have been a Belichick admirer ever since 2006 when the Patriots played in Minnesota...and he went 5 wide for what seems like the entire first quarter and dumbfounded the Vikes defense that day. Pure genius.

Again you have no background history of your intended statement...

I think Dakevdude posts well....for somebody with only 124 posts.

Really good to see Randy making a solid contribution in the blocking assignments !

Randy has also probably run more crossing routes this year than ever before also. Maybe even more than the previous sum total in all his career ? lol

Really glad the Patriots resigned him.

It really does amaze me that this site has become such a Homer Central that you can't get away with ANYTHING that could possibly be construed as critical, even in a thread whose focus was on praising a player for doing the little things. Pathetic.

And RayClay, your long-held upset over Tomase-based posts is duly noted. You'll hit me on anything. What are you hoping for for Christmas this year, integrity?

This site has become Homer Central, really? This site has had so much drivel the last couple of years that Homer Central would have been a better place!

Because the cameras happened to show you Moss blocking on a couple of plays AND because the media has told you that he doesn't do that, you created this thread. He is not and never will be a great blocker but was also never the "quitter" and "try when i want to" player that you think he was.

Facts and serious football is what this board is about, nothing to do with homer vs. critic. Sure sometimes people get overly defensive about certain things but that just might be due to the influx of idiotic threads this year and last.

Why are you saying I don't have integrity? I'm not a writer or executive of the Herald.

We shouldn't appreciate and be loyal to our team and the great players, who have given us another great season.

Rather, our loyalty should go to flabby sensationalist writers who are salivating at another chance to throw our team under the bus to make a name for themselves.

Makes sense to me.:wha:

And I have a higher post count, so my opinion is more valid.

Guys, I give up. I don't see how I was in any way disloyal or unappreciative of our team and the great players. Please have a great holiday and I hereby rescind "Randy Moss's blocking appreciation thread." I can't win.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

Have you ever played as a deep-threat WR in football before? You can't just run full speed ever play, make perfect block, perfect catches (I don't want him to put himself in a high-risk injury spot just to make a catch) , etc all the time. It's not like he only plays half the snaps, he is in there pretty much all game. Just because he had a little attitude when he was younger doesn't mean he didn't give it his all.

I'll say it again, to be an effective deep threat, you can't just wear yourself out early on. You have to be able to beat you're guy when it matters. You simply don't put up the insane numbers Moss has throughout his career without giving it your all.

Whenever I see Moss run I think of Usain Bolt.
