Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!

Don't you know that it is written: "He shall be made to suffer injured reserve and be out for a season. Tom shall pass, Tom shall fall, Tom shall rise again!"

Tom Brady is my Quarterback I shall not want!

He taketh us fans to Bowls Super, He leadeth the league in years past!

He restoreth his knee and shall leadeth the Pats of Righteousness for his team's sake!

Yea, though we walk through the valley of the shadow of Jets, I will fear no evil: for thou art with us, thy backup and wide receivers they comfort me.

Thou preparest a comeback before me in the presence of thine enemies! Our cups runneth over!

Surely greatness and no-mercy shall follow you all the days of your career: and I will dwell in the house of TOM BRADY for ever!

CAN I HEAR AN AMEN????

amen brother!

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

I really was starting to enjoy watching him develop and become a good quarterback, without any strings attached. It's a unique situation that let's face it, plenty of other teams would love to be able to go through in light of losing their star QB for the season.

I for one believe that if Carson Palmer can come back and play at a high level (let's face it, his head is the reason he's played poorly, not his knee - not to mention the misfits on his team ) I feel confident we'll see Brady work his way back from this. Unless the infection in his knee would be enough to raise concerns over his career, I don't see any scenario in which Brady isn't back on this team next season.

I have to say reading all this talk surprised me, and it's really too bad that people can't just enjoy the season for what it's been...an interesting ride.

Cassel's improvement is quite something to see. His pocket presence is night and day from the start of the year. It's been amazing to watch. The Cassel/Brady question is interesting but I can only concentrate on the season and it's been a fascinating season so far.

Pitt next week. no Brady, no Harrison, no Jordan, no Maroney, no A Thomas.
No problem!

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

I'll admit I wanted Cassel cut. I never would have thought we'd have a strong offense and week defense at this point in the season
Ditto! Cassell looked terrible in preseason. However I never thought the Patriots pass defense would look this bad. The New England Patriots should have signed Ty Law after Wheatley went down in the Colts game.

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

As best I can tell, Dallas got 3 #1s and 3 #2s from Minnesota. Lets start with that.
Or lets say BB could get the three best Defensive starters from a worthy team. ILB. SS. DE.

the question that is interesting is this -- is that amount of compensation worth more than the difference between having MC on the field instead of TB.

think about it. stop ranting. think.

i guarantee that if MC continues to progress, Mr BB and SP are definitely thinking about it. they have shown NO QUALMS in doing what is best for the team, regardless of fan loyalties.

note above - i am NOT saying it will happen, nor that it should happen, but IF MC continues to progress, the possibility of the largest trade in NFL history becomes less theoretic.

:disagreement: :D

This is an example of a logical response to the post. The actual problem with the thread is fan hysteria. I've read all the posts and don't remember one which actually stated the Patriots SHOULD trade Brady. The posts consisted of not getting anything for Cassell or what treasures would Brady bring. OTH, the vast majority of members who opposed discussing the trade ranted about, his feelings, his playing for the Jets, a fan's loyalty, etc, etc. Anyone that wants to have a logical discussion on the pros and cons of what to do with the Cassell/Brady situation, I'm game, otherwise I'm done.

Well I've just been told that Brady is overrated. Why even bother trading him? He won't be worth much.

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

Holy CRAP!!!!!! I said something like this in another thread with tongue in cheek! It was predicated on Cassel running the table, throwing between 2-4 TDs per game, winning the SB, and making everyone's hair stand on end with brilliant heroic drives to win games... sort of like the Jets game about 8different times or so, with different outcomes.

Ugh. Talk to me in 8 weeks, unless -- my GOD -- it might possibly not happen.

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

If God forbit the Pats dont make the playoffs, this will be the biggest mute point in the history of the board.

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

why would a team trade for him coming off a severe injury that was accompanied by complications?

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

also why would a team trade for him when belichik proved this year that it's the system and not the players

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

Yeah, Brady sucks!
well no, he's just very unproven x2

he's unproven ouside of the pats system and he's unproven since his severe injury

why would a team break the bank for that?

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

has any player ever left the belichik pats and done good ? lol

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

As I've said in other threads -- at 37/8/9 you might dump a Montana, Favre, or Brady for a sufficiently good alternative. But not at 32/33.

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

Ian - I love this site dearly, but stupid threads like this should be relegated to the Practice Squad.

Also, the post from Lifer seem to have a similar ring to the ones done by PatsLifer. Coincidence? *shrug* Either way, the post have been friggin ridiculous.

The truth isn't always pretty.

I totally agree. I'm not saying it's the right move or the smart move. But they have to think about it, that's the point.

I understand the "this thread should be closed" reaction, but if Cassel keeps playing like this-- a big if -- they will have to think about it. They'd be crazy not to. Brady is the most expensive player on the team by far, is coming off a catastrophic injury, and has a younger, cheaper replacement coming up behind him. If this were some other player besides Brady -- if there was a young tackle coming up behind Matt Light, for instance -- you'd pick the younger guy without a second thought. Of course the difference is that Brady is a historically great player and the face of the franchise, so for that reason it's highly unlikely that he'd ever be traded. But if Cassel keeps improving this is going to become a real issue pretty quickly.

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

I simply don't understand how a majority of you can't see Ian started this thread as a means to keep all the other bull**** threads under control and in 1 thread as opposed to a myriad.

Perhaps a sticky is in order.
