The scoreboard says that they outscored the Las Vegas Raiders, 3-0. But if you include the final 1:02 of the first quarter to the end of the first half, the Patriots served notice that they really are vastly improved under brand new head coach Mike Vrabel. They completely stifled the Raider offense and Drake Maye looked comfortable in running the Patriot offense.

“I think he’s a great teacher I think the way that the connection with the players – again, it’s a fine line to try to hold guys accountable.”

The Patriots will start 6 rookies in this game.  That is way too many and a reflection of just how poor this team’s talent was after years of poor drafting. 

Given how things have gone this week, it looks like the Patriots’ depth will be tested this weekend when the club kicks off its 2025 season.

I am shocked by this move!  Three days after the initial cutdown, the Patriots released Peppers?   What happened in the last three days?  PFF had Peppers with a 90.1 rating on average of the last 4 seasons, which is 4th best overall.

The New England Patriots are parting ways with safety Jabrill Peppers.  Peppers has been a leader in the locker room and someone who has brought plenty of energy to that side of the football.

Mike Vrabel told reporters during his press conference on Wednesday that the initial 2025 Patriots Roster would likely see some changes, and that’s exactly what ended up happening.

Patriots’ veterans Kyle Dugger and Anfernee Jennings played deep into the second half of meaningless Pre-season games, with Dugger playing until the end in the last two games.  That is humiliating for veteran players.

After the Patriots made their initial cuts down to 53 on Tuesday, there was little doubt that the club might make a couple of additional moves based on players who were part of the league-wide purge.

Heading into yesterday’s final Patriots 53-man roster cuts, the biggest question was whether or not the club might make one or more trades to move on from a couple of players, and which established veterans the club might move on from.

Listing the 23 players that remain to be cut Monday, I made a mistake.  Teams no longer need to cut a player to protect an injured player so that the injured player can be put on recallable IR.  NFL Teams are granted two recallable IR spots.  So, Jahlani Tavai was put on recallable IR.  That means a player such as Morgan Moses does not need to be cut and re-signed the next day.

Today’s the big day, with the club looking to pare its roster down to 53, and there were already a couple of additional names added to the list before the final total gets announced later this afternoon.

The initial group of player cuts has been made, and the Patriots are down to 75.  The Patriots announced 15 cuts and to me only one was a surprise.  I thought Kyle Peko was going to make the team.  That means 22 more players must go.  Of this group of Prospective Cuts, many will be offered a spot on the Practice Squad.
