Here’s what New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel had to say during his appearing on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show on Monday.

Sunday’s game was disappointing, especially considering the Patriots will walk away from this one knowing that the game was there for the taking. 

Hunter Henry was the go-to guy for the offense this afternoon, catching eight passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns. 

You don’t win in the NFL often when you turn the ball over 5 times on Offense and only have one turnover on Defense.  Yet the Patriots were still tied late in the 4th Quarter and moving the ball again. 

The Patriots get the Carolina Panthers at home next week, where they should be solid favorites to win. Maye should be up for this battle as he takes on the team from the same state as his college Alma Mater. Vrabel said that the Patriots need to “get him back” when asked about Stevenson.

Coming off of Sunday’s loss against the Steelers, it’s certainly hard to look at the stat sheet and make sense of New England’s 21-14 outcome.

The Patriots are easing rookie TreVeyon Henderson into third-down work, where he’s matched Rhamondre Stevenson in receptions through two games.

The Steelers won 10 games last year despite leading at halftime in just five games. It was the same exact result in 2023.  A tremendous amount of credit has to be given to Head Coach Mike Tomlin.  You may not like him, but you have to give him your respect for the job he has done in Pittsburgh, having his team in contention every year.

The grades are in and the Offensive Line performed very well.  Neither Will Campbell nor Jared Wilson gave up any pressures, sacks or hurries in the game. 

Drake Maye had his best game as a pro. There was a noticeable decisiveness in his reads, and he looked much more comfortable in the pocket

It was a nice afternoon of redemption for Drake Maye against the Miami Dolphins, especially coming off a week full of chatter and questions about his potential future as the quarterback of this football team.

“We’re not front-runners,” Vrabel said in his postgame press conference. “And that’s a big thing in this league.”

The Patriots won in Miami and they beat Tua Tagovailoa for the first time.  Despite the heat in Miami, they didn’t wilt down the stretch. 

There were a lot of amazing elements of Sunday’s win by the Patriots in Miami.

“Zak Kuhr will call the game defensively and I’ll help him like I always do,” Vrabel said. “But I’m excited for that.”

It appears the New England Patriots aren’t finishing revamping their wide receiver room, with the club making a move on Saturday to thin things out a bit ahead of next offseason after making a trade of Ja’Lynn Polk to New Orleans.

Last season was a disaster for the Dolphins due to the collapse of the Offensive Line through injuries.  2025 is not starting off any better.  Left Tackle Terron Armstead retired, pushing second year LT Patrick Paul into the starting lineup.

The Patriots were not as bad as the final score indicated.   The biggest problem in the loss to the Raiders was the play of Drake Maye.

To say that I am disappointed is beyond words.  Yes, I stated in yesterday’s article that I thought the Patriots would lose.  That doesn’t mean that I am cheering for the team to lose.

It was pretty surprising that the Patriots only attempted to run the ball 18 times (for 60 yards), and in a one-score game

Sunday’s opener against the Raiders had some good moments, but a lot of the concerns new head coach Mike Vrabel had coming into the game ultimately reared their ugly head during a disappointing 20-13 loss at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.
