This game was sloppy. The Atlanta Falcons perform better with Michael Penix and Drake London, but John Parker-Romo’s missed extra point cost them the win.

Penix has a very good arm and can attack the area outside the numbers. But he’s struggled to use the middle of the field.

We only see the Falcons once every 8 years, so we are not very familiar with this foe.  What kind of Front Office signs an aging veteran QB to a 4-year $100 million contract in the Spring before the Draft and then turns around and drafts a QB in the 1st Round #8 overall?  

In the second half, Maye added a perfect passer rating of 158.3, going 8-8, 114 yards, three touchdowns, and 34 yards on the ground. 

The Patriots passed the test!  Drake Maye was facing the #1 defense in the league.  It didn’t matter.  Maye not only is a top ten QB in the league, but he is in serious contention for MVP.  This Brown’s defense was legitimate, and he shredded them in the second half.  All he did was go 8 for 8 and a perfect 158.3 passer rating and 3 TDs. 

Some random takeaways from the Patriots and the NFL coming off another busy Week 8

According to the NFL’s Tom Pelissero, the Patriots reached an agreement on a trade with the 49ers for defensive end Keion White.

Just a little over a year after receiving a contract extension, the New England Patriots have moved on from safety Kyle Dugger.

Maye said. “He made a great, great move on them and just trying to give him a chance… he made a nice adjustment to it and a great catch.”

Drake Maye was outstanding again this week. He was 18 of 24 passes for 282 yards, 3 TDs and 3 TDs.  He ran for 50 yards but was sacked 6 times for 37 yards.  Another MVP worthy performance against the Browns #1 Defense coming into this week.

But while everyone is talking about the Browns defense (and rightfully so), the Patriots’ defense has actually been better against the run. 

Gabriel has completed just 11 of his 31 throws over 10 air yards, the worst completion rate in the league (35.5 percent).

Some thoughts with Sunday’s win in Tennessee now in the rearview.

I’m happy for our players. I think these guys, they’re figuring out how to win. It’s humbling to have these people want to cheer for us.

This was the third straight win on consecutive weeks.  Only one other time in team History has this been accomplished – the 1961 Boston Patriots.

Mike Vrabel downplayed the revenge game angle in his press conference stating that this wasn’t a “win one for the Gipper” game.

The Titans enter the contest this week at home after firing their head Coach Brian Callahan.  In his place, they elevated Sr. Offensive Assistant Mike McCoy as the Interim Head Coach.  McCoy immediately fired well-respected Offensive Line coach Bill Callahan, the father of Brian.

Look for the Patriots to attack the seams with Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper, something they did last year.
