While there are definitely questions, and more moves at linebacker coming, they seem to be moving to a smaller, quicker group

A look at some college prospects and reactions to the Patriots early free agent moves.

The linebacking core was the cornerstone for the defense in several Super Bowls, but the times, like Bob Dylan said, “are a-changing”.

Mac Jones had a solid rookie season for the New England Patriots last season, and certainly outshone Cam Newton’s run in the team the previous campaign, and the 23-year-old has obvious talent, talents that coach Bill Belichick will look to utilize as he seeks to take his team back to the top.

“He was my quarterback that year (2020), so Mac and I got along really well. We also have a lot of chemistry.”

If you had asked me two weeks ago if the Patriots should apply the Franchise Tag to JC Jackson I would have said a resounding yes.  However, over the past two weeks, I have looked at the possibility that Jackson won’t be tagged.

“This offseason will be a big, big part of it, just getting stronger and cleaning up on my diet and all that,” Jones said.

One of the areas to keep an eye on this offseason is whether or not the Patriots opt to add talent to their receiving corps, as it certainly feels like they were one player short at times throughout the 2021 season.

While was watching Brian Flores’ interview last night on “I AM ATHLETE”, one thought I had was thinking about comparing two disappointing seasons when it came to previous Patriots players and trying to figure out who was more frustrating to watch, Harry or Chad Ochocinco’s 2011 campaign with the team?

That is Belichick’s coaching philosophy, while in the NFL coordinators may come and go, the system has to remain the same.

New England Patriots coach Dante Scarnecchia reportedly drew out various protection schemes on a whiteboard in detail, before eventually erasing them completely and asking Mankins to repeat it with the same terminology.

Unlike in the first season, Mac Jones will be up against a lot of expectations.

“Richard was a tremendous player. He had a tremendous skill set. Explosive. Very quick for his size. He could do everything,” Belichick said
