Room can be made, if they've earned the room. Izzo, Alexander and Woods are easily - easily - replaceable. I hope that the FO has learned its lesson via the Garrett Mills/Justin Rogers fiascos.
I am not sure about easily...certainly VERY possible..but they aren't going to replace a vet of Izzo's stature (On ST) or Alexander or Woods unless there is good reason for that. At some point, Izzo's ST ability will drop..and ONLY when the team feels that they HAVE a replacement will he retire or be cut..He's also the ST captain...I really think it's a big year for Alexander...where he will step it up into a REAL backup role...or risk being a ST only player...Woods still has time, but with Crable, Redd, pushing him..THAT will be an interesting battle. Mills really did not have a position...and with Rogers? Did they really wish to keep him?? Not sure...but I think they saw him as more a long term project than either Crable or Redd.

I think that a guy like Alexander -- and to a lesser extent Woods -- you pretty much know what you have: a decent player with very limited upside.

I think players like that are very cuttable if there is an UDFA who you think has starter potential. IMO, Woods & Alexander don't and it's worth the risk-reward to sacrifice some short term dropoff in play if you think the upside is you are replacing them with a potential starter.

How do you know what you have in Woods? It's his third year in the system after playing almost not at all his final season at Michigan. And this fixation with the mishandling of the fumble in the Super Bowl is just... ridiculous.

Alexander... well, Alexander has been with the team for four years now, you're probably right about him.

Well...I think if it's a choice between a player with a known non-starter ceiling and a UDFA that MAY be a starter in time..Of course..but I sometimes don't think it's always known EXACTLY where a player may fit in the future.. Woods is only two years into the system...Alexander has 4 years.but what if they believe that he might be a starting ILB soon? With the BB philosophy of LBs taking time, might it make sense that they are grooming him for that? If that is not the case, then, he could be cut if a special teamer who has more upside is found.
