The Offense Is Now Set Through 2016; WOW!

I think Amendola and Cannon will be cap casualties.
I agree that Amendola's a prime candidate, not so much Cannon though. He got his extension less than a year ago, and if anything he's been a little better than he was playing at the time that he got that extension. Definitely hasn't been worse than expected or anything like that.

If he gets cut, it'll be because his contract was basically designed for him to get cut, and I don't think Belichick would do that knowing that even a quarter-decent tackle will get enough of a contract in FA to net a compensatory pick/

If Goodell reinstates Josh Gordon and we pick him up as a free agent this off-season, I'll feel a little less PO'ed over the stolen 1st round pick.

You have to imagine he'd jump at the opportunity to PO the league office, and what better way than by joining the Pats?

Someone get on that. Thanks.

With the extension of Lewis, the offense is essentially set through 2016. There are very few free agents. I suppose that Belichick might even extend Kline (and perhaps Develin) before the season ends, as he often does with RFA's.

2016 FREE AGENTS
Blount
Kline (RFA)
Wendell
Martin
Gibson (IR)
Tyms (RFA, IR)
Develin (RFA, IR)

To be clear, we don't need to allocate many new resources on the offense in the next off-season.

I wonder how this affects upcoming draft picks? Of course, when draftees slip in position (and become available), the situation changes.

Since our first pick is in the 60's, I would think that we would be focusing on the best players, with the usual exclusions and adjustments to valuations.

That being said, other than possibly corner, I do not see us having a real "need" going into the draft, or the off-season for that matter.

I agree that Cannon isn't going anywhere for a while, he is just too valuable as a back up tackle, there isn't really a "plan B".

Volmer remains as arguably the best RT in the game when healthy, but he has been injured plenty and he is the second oldest player (apart from Q and K) on the team at 31. BB shocks me all of the time, but I can't imagine letting Cannon go unless Fleming or some fabulous draft or UDFA "find" makes a giant step forward.
