How does he get that kinda money? Solid coach but, my god. Might be the most overrated in the league. Some pegged him as the 2nd best in the league after he won the SB and I called him overrated then. Isn't 9 a year probably the highest paid in the league if not close to?

Can't even rush the passer...

They Payton/Loomis team has not done a very good job these past couple of years but clearly Benson thought he needed to keep them. Payton had one year left on his deal so he needed to do something.

You can do worse as a head coach than Payton. That team just needs to quit playing with Monopoly money when it comes to the salary cap.

Why did he put Loomis in charge of the Pelicans as well (if I remember correctly, Loomis isn't even really a basketball guy)? How can you manage both teams at once lol?

Sean isn't the worst coach in the league, that's for sure, but wow, if he's getting that much, how much is Bill worth? lol

Bad cap management + NFL sabotage = Debacle of a franchising that was set to make a run for a good 5 years or so.

Ok that Brees is not what he once was (and I always felt he was not in the Brady/Manning/Rodgers conversation because he is not quite the same in open stadiums/on the road) but he can still put them in position to compete for the playoffs every year, until last season that division was a joke, now the Panthers seems to have taken the reins of the division.

It just shows once again how good of a thing we have in NE under Belichick. Payton is a good coach calling the shots on the field but overall he wasn't good enough to avoid this severe decline they had in the past few years.

What it really boils down to is there were rumors that the saints were shopping him during the offseason, so im sure payton was feeling pretty insecure about his spot, this 9 million a year contract solidifies his future in New orleans.

If you look around the league and at the coaches available, who is going to take his place? that team is in Cap hell, has holes everywhere.

If pride is what drives Sean most, I'd do like his mentor Big Bill and already left for another team.

New Orleans is done.

the saints are in bad shape with the salary cap.

they might win 6 games this season if they get lucky!!

No clue. Managing an NBA cap and NFL are completely different philosophically different financial approaches.
