I dunno. Maybe it has something to do with this:

And this:

And, of course, this:

Does anyone know if other teams' camps have such high attendance? Buffalo, maybe?

I was trying to find that out in a bunch of metro newspapers online.

The only one's I could find sadly were Cleveland, which mentioned 1500 at their last TC and Pittsburgh which stated several hundred.

Still searching with curiosity.

Below are photos from the Bills training camp.

As you'll be able to see, the granstands behind the players are "sparsely filled" to say the least.

Granted, back in 1990 few were taking the ride down to RI either, but aren't the Bills supposed to have some of the most dedicated fans in the NFL. Or so we were told.

I read somewhere that Dallas draws 10,000 plus.....I would say we are in the top ten for sure though.

Eagles are definitely up there. I remember the year they got TO, they were hitting the 20,000-25,000 range.

8,000? That's why I avoid camp on weekends.

I was over in NY last week, near enough to Albany to make the trip to Giants camp. Some quick digging seemed to indicate they charge admission. Might have something to do with other camps having lower attendance.

(I skipped the Giants. I'll see enough of the Mannings this season, thank you very much)

No way absolutely not......if they reached 15,000 that would surprise the most I recall hearing of was the 10,000 from dallas afformentioned....that doesnt mean someone somewhere didnt beat dallas just that I find it hard or even immpossible to think 20,000+

By the way I was there this morning Thomas layed a lickin on quinton smith right in front of me

Breer mentioned this, since there is no report of a forced fumble I'm assuming the kid kept control of the ball despite the bug/car windshield aspect of the contact?

The camp is a little out of the way for most Buffalo fans. 1 1/2 hours from Buffalo. Two hours from Erie. 2 from the Southern Tier of Buffalo.

he did hold onto it, I have to admit I didnt realize it was thomas till breer wrote it but I saw the play but I saw someone else get up from the pile and thought he made the contact opps nice to hear it was thomas as it was real nice contact

Nearly 25,000 fans attend Eagles practice

Andy Reid needed a siren on his car to clear a path for him to training camp. Practice ended with a line of cars snaked for miles in traffic that rarely budged.

The fans inside were jammed several rows deep all craning their necks to catch a glimpse of Terrell Owens and Donovan McNabb, screaming for autographs or a picture.

Philadelphia's training camp on Friday had the atmosphere of a rock concert, with nearly 25,000 fans attending practice at Lehigh University's football complex, according to the Eagles.

"It's the Field of Dreams," said Reid, who needed a police escort and the siren.

The Eagles touted the attendance as the largest to watch a training camp practice in a non-stadium venue in league history.

"I might have to come back next week, but leave at 5 a.m.," said fan Dave Kessler, of Newark, Del. Kessler said his drive should have lasted 1 1/2 hours. Instead, it was over three.

Many fans never made it. When the final whistle blew, hundreds of cars were still stuck on the road. Some fans just pulled over and walked over a mile to get to practice.

During Reid's press conference, several television stations abruptly pulled up and ran toward the stands where Owens was causing a commotion with an impromptu autograph signing.

"This is something," Reid said.

The crowd far exceeded the 11,000 fans who showed up for a session earlier this week. Cool weather, a kids promotion, and new additions Owens and Jevon Kearse had the fans in midseason form, wildly cheering even the most routine plays.

Some fans with special passes watched just a few feet away from the sideline and gasped when players came flying near them.

Most were donned in jerseys - with Owens' No. 81 easily the favorite - as they stuffed bleachers and sat on the hilly campus to watch what was a rather mundane practice.

"I think the only downfall is the traffic trying to get down here to get ready for practice," quarterback Donovan McNabb said. "I don't think it would easy to explain to Andy why you were late for practice."

I stand corrected, not the first time wont be the last...but that is just such a big number than the norm, it was my understanding that our 5,000 the past few years was really high. I guess I should now better than going up against a BadMoFO, Samuel is usually right or at least he makes it right by laying his vengence upon thee.

Other than that day when TO was signing, the Eagles averaged in the 10,000 range that year and the following year. That was the post-Super Bowl loss, TO suspension training camp session.
