with the sox still in spring training...nfl FA is slowing down, the draft has been dissected enough, now we just see what happens....Celtics blow...Bruins have lost 5 straight....my point is that sports are pretty damn boring right about now so i was just searching for things on youtube and came across this...i for one never even heard of brady until he stepped in for the pats...so anyways this is him in college, hard to beleive he lasted till 199th(right?)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=6bSzyfctieM

if anyone else has a video like this post it (not necessarily tom brady, but anything to keep us occupied until the sox start and draft day)

forgot to add...who are his receivers in this video.. are any of them still in the league??

Tai Streets was drafted by the 49ers late in the draft one year. 6th round I think. I believe there were injury concerns. He appearently had some good camps with them but never performed/was healthy during the season.

Marcus Knight is number 85. I don't think he was drafted?

Diallo Johnson is number 9.

David Terrell everyone knows about.

Marquise Walker went in the third round to the Bucs, but he couldn't pick up a pro offense and was cut pretty quickly. I think he might not have lasted through camp.

So of that list, nobody still plays pro football. Terrell was far and away the most productive.

Of the tight ends Shea and Tuman are still in the league as backups. Shea is injured a lot.

I think the best line in that video was in the Penn state game. "Brady has already completed a pass to 8 different receivers." He shows the great pocket awareness back then as he does now.

Awesome. Man those were some good memories. The Purdue game they show, I remember a lot of people picked us to lose. Purdue was the trendy pick, and Drew Brees was supposed to shred us. It was cold and rainy. We beat their faces in. The Orange Bowl was probably the most intense game I've been a part of. That 1 play OT TD to Shawn Thompson was priceless.

He was so skinny.

David Terrell....what a waste of talent.

Dave was Tom Close to getting the Starting Job from Griese in 97 ? Also in your opinion what was it that let TB slip to the 6th round (It has to be more than the sharing time with Henson ) The reason I ask is after looking at these clips I see a guy making ridiculous throws all over the field with the same poise and leadership he shows now. Wow, makes you really question some of the talent evaluators in the NFL

Those Michigan guys sure do hate the Trojans don't they. Ironic how that's come back to haunt him today.

Keep in mind they are highlights. I didn't watch him in college so I don't really know, but highlights don't usually paint the whole picture.

Interesting story. In 97, most people expected a battle between Scott Dreisbach (who was the starter in 95 and 96 until injury) and 5th year Griese. It was Brady who won the backup job, and pushed Griese until the end. Griese got the nod based on experience, but Tommy gave him a run for the money, and was pretty darn close to winning that job.

The 6th round slip? Well, for those of us who were on/close to the team when Tommy was around, specifically the 99 season when he really came into his own, it's no surprise what he's doing in the league. The problem Tommy had when it came time for the pros, was measurables. His strength really is intangibles, as opposed to guys who wow with raw talent. He knows the game better than anyone I've ever seen, and the difference between a 5 star, bluechip guy like Henson (who if you remember, would've probably been the Texans' #1 pick had he chose football and stayed for his senior year) and Tommy was not even close. Tommy was 5 steps ahead of what anyone else on our team was thinking about plays, and would routinely point things out to the staff. He could make all of the throws and run the offense beautifully, but scouts still saw a horrible 40 time, scrawny build, and a 5th year senior sharing time, and didn't think he would be a good pro. He was known back then to us as the "Comeback Kid" in Ann Arbor, because we were never out of it with him under center. The leadership skills he had were amazing, and to keep Henson on the bench as much as he did was a testament to them.

Read your blog. Pretty cool stuff. One of my best friends from the service lives outside of Flint. Die hard Detroit fan. We had built quite a mutual respect for each others teams. Many arguments over BU,BC vs Michigan-mich St hockey. I remember sticking it to him pretty good when San Jose took you guys out in 7 games in the first round after winning the Presidents cup, best record ever? Eventually you guys won "some" cups after the fact. I was glad and always call him to congratulate him when a Detroit team wins.

He actually called me during sb36 2 minutes before AV kicked it through. He also called me to congratulate me on our victory over the Colts during half time while we were up 21-6. He #@$%ing jinxed us I tell you. Anyhow whenever a Boston team no longer has a chance to compete for a Championship I quietly hope for a Michigan victory for his sake.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I need to update a little more frequently, and should be doing so with the NHL and NBA playoffs upon us, and 2 more Red Wings and Pistons chokes imminently approaching. Plus, I have the draft to break down!

Mentioning that San Jose series was just mean...though we only had the 2nd best record that year (NYR, who won the cup), and were #1 in the West. The year we set the records was 1996, with 62 wins. Then lost to Colorado in the WCF. It's funny, 3 cups since then, but the Wings still tend to choke more often than not.

As for your buddy jinxing, well, I was at the game in Indy, and when it went to half, the guy I was sitting with (a passive Pats fan at most, went to UM with me and just roots for Tommy) started reserving hotels in Miami and calling for tickets. I about knocked him out. Freaking jinx.

I had already lined up a free place to stay in Miami but I would never start making calls for the other pieces of the puzzle until the game is over. Now we know who to blame

Yeah, I was pretty annoyed. I got about 6 texts from people after Asante scored saying it was over, and offering congrats. I kept firing back that it wasn't over, but they kept coming in. Ugh. To go from such a high to such a low.

thats sorta why i posted it....i mean i know they are highlights but he looks to be in really good form in these highlights...what was terrells deal anyways...lazy??

DT was a combination of a few things. He is a great guy, but he has a very flashy, ****y personality. Before the draft, he got caught up with some poor advice, and spent a lot of money (he went through several expensive cars), and when he got to Chicago, he made no secret that he was living large. He and Jamal Crawford (formerly of UM and the Bulls) partied up in Chicago (and they threw some RIDICULOUS parties!), and that rep combined with his ****iness got him in the doghouse there. The media railed on him, and while he wasn't entirely unproductive (the Bears didn't use him properly at all, and he wasn't developing in their system) he was turned off at all the negativity in Chicago. In perspective, he was crucified in the media for speeding tickets while today they defend Tank Johnson.

He left for a fresh start, got hurt, and never put the effort back in to regain the potential he had. I firmly believe that had he gotten in a system with more discipline, in a less crazy town, he would've been able to develop into a good #1 receiver.

I remember during the training camp he was here for I heard a Pats writer say something like Terrell didn't look very interested in playing football.

At that point it was more frustration on his part. I talked with him shortly after he signed with the Pats, and he was the old DT I knew from Michigan. He was confident in his ability, in a good situation, ready to win and play big. When he got hurt, and things turned (he was getting passed on the depth chart, still trying to play and earn a roster spot) he saw more of the down side of the game, it being a job. He wasn't used to not being the main guy, and that took a big toll on DT. He had lost a step, and couldn't make the plays he used to make. Plus, a big part of his success was his attitude. It sounds stupid, but he thrived on having that badass persona, and letting everyone know the ball was coming to him, he was going to make the play, and then he was going to tell them about it. The writer must've picked up on this, because it wasn't fun for him then. When he went to Denver, he told me he was pretty much just getting a paycheck.

What was his injury?
