Saw that article earlier. He was a great folk musician away from the Monkees.

Looks like he took the Last Train to Clarksville.

Used to watch the Monkees (and Batman too!) as a 1st- and 2nd-grader, and collected Monkees (and Batman too!) trading cards while my older brother collected baseball cards. Good times, good times...RIP, Peter. Thanks for the memories.

Monkees songs will sometimes pop up in my aging brain, but never really liked them as there were so many more "edgier groups" that I gravitated towards..

The Monkees were a TV show the evolved into a band.. the Monkees was on TV for about 2 years in the late 60's.. not all that appealing.

They tried to appeal to my restless generations malcontents .. but they failed, but for some reasons I can clearly hear them singing.. their music and lyrics are forever imprinted in my brain..

See Mrs. Gray, she's proud today
Because her roses are in bloom
And Mr. Green, he's so serene
He's got a TV in every room
Another pleasant valley Sunday
Here in status symbol land
Mothers complain about how hard life is
And the kids just don't understand
