NFL Agent: LeGarrette Blount was best offensive signing of the year

In 2005, NE rewarded Clock Killin Corey Dillon with 2 year extension, $10 mill guaranteed ... after his 1635 yd, 12 TD Super Bowl season......when the cap was $85.5 million. With the 2017 cap double the 2005 maximum, Blount and his agent have to believe this is his time to cash in.

Blount is 30.......somebody may pay him, but he has not shown to be a yearly full time back

So if you swap Elliot and Blount do you think Blount would have a higher YPG?

Of course. The OL matters a good deal but is is not like the Pats have a bad OL. Actually it is one of the top 10. Also that is a good reason why I don't overly talk up Elliot. Elliot is better than Blount but not the best RB in the NFL. The fact the Dallas OL > Pats OL doesn't mean Blount is under appreciated due to it.

I think if you want to bring up OLs and supporting cast you actually hurt Blount's case more than help it.

Blount among starting RBs is in a fairly enviable position when compared to the all other starting RBs position.

Not quite; it was more like 26 months. He was a fifth-round draft pick in 2011, so he was under contract through 2014. In December 2014, they extended him two years, through this season.

You know I think you are right.

The Patriots O line has developed throughout the season to what it is today. They didn't start the season ranked in the top 10. Further they didn't start the season with Tom Brady and relied on the running game especially when Brissett was starting.

Elliot is a better running back. No doubt. But Blount has been better than average. Put him behind Dallas's O line for the whole season and he'd likely have 4.5 YPG which is 12 extra yards per game.

So my opinion is that Blount gives you ball security and tough yards on the goal line or for first downs which is what he has been asked to do.
