ESPN.com reports the New England Patriots will work out free-agent QB Tim Rattay (Cardinals) Monday, Sept. 7, sources have told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

Chris Simms and Tim Rattay are the only options to back up Casell, O connell the future is not ready yet..

Huard is now the starter for KC - we dislocated Croyle's shoulder...

Not sure Rattay is better or worse than Simms, neither meet Bill's definition as veterans or successful. Both have been through the grinder so to speak. That said they would represent a worst case buffer between O'Connell and the field if anything happened to Cassel. That's all there is...

1) Tom Brady
2) Tim Rattay
