Hey, Mike,How has Mike Wright's recovery gone since his concussion in November? Where do you see him fitting in this (semi-)new defense this season?
Mike Reiss (12:59 PM)

Bob, I have some concerns for Wright. I didn't get a good vibe after listening to him in an early-camp interview, as something didn't seem right to me. I have hesitated from reading too much into it, but the longer he is out of practice, it makes me wonder about his health. Here's hoping he finds himself in a better place soon. I wonder how much the team can count on him right now, though.

Chat: Chat with Mike Reiss - SportsNation - ESPN Boston

I've felt since the bad concussion experiences last season that Mike Wright's career likely SHOULD be over, sad as that is.

Corwin Brown just brings the point home.

I think few guys have ever been as disabled by concussions as Wright and then played again, and I'm including earlier eras when concussion dangers weren't as well understood.

I don't know what's happened to Mike. Rather than report, lately he seems to be in tea leaf reading.

Last night he was talking about rep's in practice given to Merriweather and he guessed that it didn't bode well for him. He's been covering the team long enough to know that if you try to guess what's in BB head, you are most always wrong.

While I agree with Nut regarding Reiss' analysis I agree with Reiss in this instance that Wright is not at all football ready. He's best IRed or if it's worse cut with an injury settlement and an understanding that he won't play football this year as he recuperates.

Best wishes to a fine Patriot player.

wasn't this injury due to some kind of cheap shot from a NYJet or Indy player? I would sue if there's any indication it was deliberate.

Injured vs Colts by a knee to head I believe.....**** happens

I hope he can be ready for next season.

On a positive note that opens up a roster spot to keep 1 more of our DL acquisitions

Reiss observes, he gives his opinion based on experience. Don't know anyone with more insight and access to the Patriots than him. I'd like to hear his thoughts, personally.

Yup. If anything Reiss has been criticized here for not being analytical enough. He's still very measured in his opinion and that gives him credibility when he does say stuff like this.
