Okay. The first attempt for me this year. Pre- Combine. Pre- Free Agency.
Obviously, much will change, but these are my initials thoughts.
1. Oakland
Calvin Johnson WR
Question- name another Quarterback that has been developed by the Raiders not named Stabler (and I don’t consider Marc Wilson to be developed)? I throw a curve from the start thinking that Carr might be their QB next year for a cost of a 4th and one of their 5ths. He might be a great fit in the USC/ pro-style offense. Al Davis loves the big names. He loves speed. This year that means CJohnson.
2. Detroit
Joe Thomas OT
Matt Millen is saved from himself by Davis & winds up taking the most sensible route.
3t. Cleveland
JaMarcus Russell QB
RAC has many needs, but can’t turn down JaMarcus.
4. Tampa Bay
Jamaal Anderson DE
TB defense needs a difference maker that they have lacked a Rice has aged. J Andersons ability to get himself into the backfield makes him the most logical choice.
5. Arizona
Gaines Adams DE
Many needs on OLine but no logical fit there. Adams is the best available given their needs.
6. Washington
Alan Branch DT
Square peg. Definitely need help on the front 7, esp. in the middle. Branch w/ his talent & versatility is like manna from the gods. They’d like to trade down ( I believe they only have 1 1st day pick).
7. Minnesota
Adrian Peterson RB
They’d would have to take Peterson. He’s a better talent than a 7th pick, but I didn’t see a slot for him. Trade possibility?
8. Houston
Brady Quinn QB
I just could see him doing very well w/ Kubiak’s sytem, and if they trade Carr?
9. Miami
Levi Brown OT
So many needs w/ their aging D, uncertain WR’s & QB’s. I give them the best lineman available.
10. Atlanta
La Ron Landry S
Area of need & value.
11. San Francisco
Ted Ginn WR
Ginn’s stock slides a bit after his announcement that he won’t run @ the Combine, and perhaps still won’t be able to @ Pro days. Too Talented to slide much more.
12. Buffalo
Leon Hall CB
Meet Clements replacement, though I almost gave them P Willis
13. St. Louis
Amobe Okoye DT
I have a feeling that he will be a warrior @ the Combine and might go much higher than this. StL has big problems w/ the D middle so I’ll put him here.
14. Carolina
Patrick Willis LB
I healthy, large, fast MLB. They have other needs but…
15. Pittsburgh
Adam Carricker DE
They can almost play “Best Player Available”,. I’d normally give the a CB, but instead I’ll give them Carricker as he is a potential difference-maker, and there are always talented CB’s that slide into the 2nd.
16. Green Bay
Marshawn Lynch RB
What the hell… everyone else has him going here.
17. Jacksonville
Sidney Rice WR
They could use some Weapons on offense so they pick their 3rd WR in 4 years.
18. Cincinnati
Lawrence Timmons LB
I could see them loving this guy in CinCin…
19. Tennessee
Dwayne Bowe WR
Toys for Vince. Nice big target w/ good polish.
20. N.Y. Giants
Darrelle Revis CB
They wanted Timmons, or Willis, but they definitely need some quality Backfield help as well.
21. Denver
Charles Johnson DE
Everyone seems to have them taking a CB, but I see the DLine as more of an issue.
22. Dallas
Reggie Nelson S
A saftety w/ range. What a great concept!
23. Kansas City
Dwayne Jarrett WR
I , Obviously, don’t share the love that many have for Jarrett, but he is a definite upgrade on the WR’s that they have. And he fits the “best player available” slot as well.
24. New England (from Seattle)
Jarvis Moss DE/LB
I was torn here between AMoss/ Hughes/ JMoss/ Spenser. I copped out and took the highest ranked available (plus I have been looking for a replacement “elephant” since the 1st Super Bowl, maybe this year I’m right). I want to see the speed of the CB’s before I commit on them.
25. N.Y. Jets
Aaron Moss CB
Moss/ Hughes? I’ll give them Moss just because…
26. Philadelphia
Paul Posluszny LB
They could use an LB so I’ll give them one from instate.
27. New Orleans
Dameion Hughes CB
Their D was a little exposed during the championship game.
28. New England
Robert Meachem WR
I don’t love this pick. Like I said earlier, I want to see how all the CB’s grade out @ the Combine. I took the highest rated available.
29. Baltimore
Aaron Sears OT
He might actually be better suited to Guard (which is an area of bigger need for the Ravens). A Thomas might change the direction of this pick.
30. San Diego
Anthony Gonzales WR
Toys for Phillip.
31. Chicago
Greg Olsen TE
A definite area of need.
32. Indianapolis
Anthony Spenser DE
I wavered between Spenser/ Harrell. Harrell I think would be the better fit/ value if he gets medical OKs at the Combine.
Round 2
1. Oakland- Joe Staley OT
2. Detroit- Justin Harrell DT
3t. Cleveland Ben Grubbs OG(x)
3t. Tampa Bay – Ryan Kalil OC
5. Arizona – Justin Blalock OG
6. NY Jets (from Washington) – Tank Tyler DT
7. Minnesota - Zack Miller TE
8. Houston- Brandon Siler DE

11. San Francisco- Brandon Meriweather S
12. Buffalo- Victor Abiamiri DE
13. St. Louis- Chris Houston CB

15. Pittsburgh – Lamarr Woodley DE/OLB
16. Green Bay- Michael Griffin S
17. Jacksonville – Quentin Moses DE
18. Cincinnati- Ray McDonald DE
19. Tennessee – Brandon Mebane DE
20. N.Y. Giants- Michael Bush RB
21. Denver- Eric Wright CB
22. Dallas – Josh Beekman OG
