Jason Whitlock - Brady best of his generation

I can't find it, but Belichick made the point of talking about how much latitude Brady has regarding playcalling. It's essentially the same as Manning, from the way he was talking about it.

well..maybe i didnt express it correctly. Sure brady has as much latitude when running a play but i meant from a overall scheme/game plan perspective. For e.g i remember watching nfl films of pats vs eagles during the 16-0 2007 season in which the eagles gave us all we could handle. After halftime bb says to tom, "we are going to get out of the no huddle now, okay ? and brady nods" . Something along those lines. The pats switch gameplans with him and he executes it . I meant at that level, colts game plans mostly look the same to me. iam not expert so maybe iam wrong.

This article shows that even idiotic tools like Whitlock can occasionally have sustained moments of clarity, and in those moments he can write a very good column, before he reverts back to his norm.

That was the SECOND most exquisite thing I've read on this Thread. :rocker:

The FIRST most exquisite, of course, is my favorite quote by my favorite ~ 5 Way Tie!! ~ President...which is, of course, your magnificent Signature:

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." – Theodore Roosevelt

For most Pats fans and level headed individuals, this conversation was over from Jump Street.

THIS.

I find the fact this that is ever even debated both offensive and incomprehensible.

What, precisely, makes anyone with an IQ over 7 even consider Manning to be in Brady's league??

* Is it the fact that Manning has barely more TD's per Full 16 Game Year than Brady ~ 30.6 TDs versus 30.0 TDs ~ despite playing his entire career with an Offense LOADED with Weaponry, something than Brady has only enjoyed for the last 2 -3 years??

* Is it the fact that Manning has barely kept ahead of Brady by a SLIVER, despite those immense advantages AND despite playing an average of 13 games in Pass-Friendly warm climates or Domes, while Brady has played an average of 3 games in friendly climates??

* Or is it the fact that since he finally got Receivers on Par with Manning's, 3 years ago, Brady's been hitting 39.4 TD's per year, CRUSHING Manning's 30.7??

* No, it's gotta be the fact that Brady ~ playing in FOXBORO, mind you ~ wiped out Domer Manning's TD record the very first year he got those receivers!!

* Or could it simply be that Brady's TD to Interception Ratio ~ 2.41 ~ DESTROYS Manning's, which is 2.00?? REAL men aren't afraid to throw Interceptions!!

* No, it must be Manning's sterling PlayOff record, where he's managed to help no less than 9 different teams to PlayOff success, none of them from Indianapolis, of course. Manning's 1 Super Bowl Ring was the gift of a Pass Interference-calling Referee who's vile thievery was so hideously blatant that even a Roger Goodell-led league forced him to write a formal letter of apology to Ellis Hobbs.

***

In short: Manning has been a SPECTACULAR PlayOff failure, while Tom Brady has taken his place alongside Joe Montana as this generation's Captain Clutch.

All Manning HAD...was statistics.

And since 2007 he doesn't even have them.

In fact, if we were foolish enough to look at stats...they're not even CLOSE.

And if you actually have the good judgment to ignore statistics, and look at what actually makes a better QuarterBack, as opposed to a Passer ~ Processing Speed, Judgement Under Pressure, LEADERSHIP ~ there is a yawning, gaping GORGE between them.

If you understand FootBall ~ and it's painfully obvious that so very few actually do ~ then Manning isn't even in the Argument.

to be fair IMO, manning runs the show there at least on offense, whereas BB runs it here. Brady makes use of the great coaching staff to design and adjust whereas the colts coaching staff frankly puts everything on manning. iam not saying manning is better .Brady is because he follows what the coaches want him to do game to game which is harder to do sometimes. At least thats what struck me yesterday watching the colts. Their coaches were making no adjustments to help their QB out and let him figure it out who inspite of being great cant compete with numerous coaches on the sidelines when he shorthanded.

Oh what a crock. Brady has run many iterations of this offense depending on personnel OC inclination. Manning on the other hand has been running the same simplistic offense for 13 seasons. It's a timing predicated offense so personnel changes matter almost as much as they do in this more complicated read and react post snap offense. Manning makes all the reads in his offense and his receivers simply run the play as called. If he screws the pooch they are toast. Brady makes all the reads here but he has to trust his receivers to see and adjust to the same things he sees post snap. Doesn't always happen. Manning gets three plays sent in, usually 2 passing and 1 running option, and he selects at the line based on his read of the defense. Brady gets a single play call that he is free to audible out of as he sees fit pre snap. The mistakes Manning is making lately are largely the result of pressure disrupting the finite timing between he and his WR's. And disguised defenses confusing him somewhat again as they did back in the day...
