The defense needs time to heal.
================

The offense is in great shape. Cannon looked fine at RT, and we also have Svitek. Hopefully, Vereen will be back after the bye. Sure, there is room for additions next year, but for now, we've seen what this year's team can look like.

When was the last time the pats had 3 100 yard receivers? 3 100 yard receivers who all caught TD passes? 3 100 yard receivers AND a 100 yard rusher?
================

We need to see a healthy Talib and a healthy Gregory. It seems that Ninkovich is OK. In any case, these guys are playing their hearts out, but the offense should really take charge more, now that they are healthy.

Cannon played very, very well. It is easy to see why Dante Scarnecchia is considered one of the best OL coaches in the NFL. Cannon has some great physical attributes, and has been coached up into a fine replacement for Vollmer. Hopefully Cannon can continue to perform well.

I know this game looked like a FLASHBACK of 2007 but let's not get TOO carried away. The Steelers have been limping badly this season, and the Pats took advantage to carve them up.

I will praise the Pats offense today, but with the caveat/reminder that they need to continue to perform well against the better teams in the NFL.

When this team fires on all cylinders, they do look SCARY good though.

If Talib and Nink are back after the bye, I think the defense will be good enough to not have to 'lean' on the offense. I wonder if Arrington's recent struggles have to do with the groin? If so he should probably sit out a game or two until that's better, when Talib comes back we can definitely do without him for a game or two.

Either way, I think we'll be looking good on both sides of the ball provided Talib/Nink are back soon.

I agree that the groin may be bothering Arrington.

Are you ignoring depending on Harmon on 100% of the reps?

Hopefully today is the turning point of the season for the offense...Amendola/Gronk looked like themselves...and Dobson looks like a legit threat on the outside.

then you come out of the bye and get another weapon in Vereen...this team hopefully can start peaking at just the right time.

and while Pittsburgh isnt that good of a team this year, they were #2 rated against the pass this season

I would prefer to lean on them both equally. The defense will be fine, Talib will have a Rob Gronkowski type impact on the defense.

I didn't get a feel on how severe Gregory's injury was. Yes it could be trouble if he has to miss time but I don't think it will have the effect that losing a Talib or DMC would have.

Not sure. But I saw that this was the 6th time in NFL history that a team had 3 receivers that had 100+ yard rec and 1 TD.

Wonder how many times in NFL history a team has had 3 receivers with at least 100+ yard and 1 TD and a 100 yard and at least 1 TD rusher.

I do know the supposed best offense ever hasn't done it this year.

I suspect he broke his thumb.

If we can get Talib/Ninkovich,Gregory back healthy after the bye I think we'll be fine on defense.

this 2 week break couldnt come at a better time for the pats

In my opinion we're seeing the emergence of a superstar in Chandler Jones. He has 2 sacks in a game 3 times this season and in 2 of the last 3.

I completely agree. If you end up leaning exclusively on the offense or defense you become, essentially, a one dimensional team. And, as we have found out from previous season, that doesn't always work.

The bye week has come at a bloody good time for the Patriots.

Sure! If we get Ninkovich, Talib and Gregory back at full strength after the bye, w'll be fine.
We might as well add Arrington and Dennard in that hope.

The offense should get better when Gronk and Amendola can play more. After all, Gronk was on the bench for 1/3 of the offensive reps. Obviously, Vereen isn't back yet.
