1. Raiders - WR Calvin Johnson, Georgia Tech
Take the best player, then a low-risk QB, like Drew Stanton.

2. Lions- DT Alan Branch, Michigan
Until they can pressure the QB, the cover-2 won't work.

3. Browns - LT Joe Thomas, Wisconsin
LTs don't fall, unless it's Jordan Gross or Bryant McKinnie.

4. Buccaneers - NG Amobi Okoye, Louisville
Watch for Okoye's late rise to really shake up draft boards.

5. Cardinals - RB Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma
They're not counting on "Edge" to push them over the top.

6. Redskins - DE Adam Carriker, Nebraska
Youth movement begins with Carriker in for Phillip Daniels.

7. Vikings - QB JaMarcus Russell, LSU
May move up to #2 to secure him or slide back to #8.

8. Texans - QB Brady Quinn, Notre Dame
If they land Quinn, RB Tony Hunt is a steal in Round 2.

9. Dolphins - CB Daymeion Hughes, California
The Dolphins are rumored to have locked eyes on Hughes.

10. Falcons - DE Jamaal Anderson, Arkansas
Could step in on the right side to replace Patrick Kerney.

11. 49ers - OLB Lawrence Timmons, Florida State
Looking for an athlete to help spark their 3-4 defense.

12. Bills - OT Levi Brown, Penn State
Brown has the charcter and leadership that Marv Levy wants.

13. Rams - DE Gaines Adams, Clemson
The Rams would have to jump if Adams is still on the board.

14. Panthers - S Reggie Nelson, Florida
"The Eraser" should immediately solve their DB problems.

15. Steelers - DB LaRon Landry, LSU
Landry can help a leaky Steelers D at either FS or CB.

16. Packers - WR Dwayne Jarrett, USC
Jarret makes an attractive target opposite Donald Driver.

17. Jaquars - WR/KR Ted Ginn, Jr. Ohio State
Counting on the versatile Ginn to be their Devin Hester.

18. Bengals - MLB Patrick Willis, Mississippi
Willis is the perfect antidote to the Bengals legal ills.

19. Titans - RB Marshawn Lynch, California
Despite Travis Henry, the Titans will pounce on Lynch.

20. Giants - OT Aaron Sears, Tennessee
Watch for the G-Men to roll the dice for an athletic LT.

21. Cowboys - CB Darrelle Revis, Pittsburgh
Opinions vary on Revis but he is an instant upgrade here.

22. Broncos - RB Michael Bush, Louisville
Looking more and more like the next Terrell Davis.

23. Chiefs - OG Ben Grubbs, Auburn
Fills a need. Chiefs are scrambling to rebuild their OL.

24. Patriots - DE Jarvis Moss, Florida
Comes with question marks but looks like Willie McGinest.

25. Jets - DB Brandon Merriweather, Miami
Watch for the Jets to take Merriweather and play him at RCB.

26. Eagles - DE Charles Johnson, Georgia
Should have their choice between Johnson and Quinten Moses.

27. Saints - LB Paul Posluszny, Penn State
Concerns about "weak legs" drop Posluszny right in their lap.

28. Patriots - MLB Brandon Siler, Florida
DB help awaits them in FA; front 7 youth/speed in the draft.

29. Ravens - DE/LB Anthony Spencer, Purdue
Could fill the void on the outside left by (FA) Adalius Thomas.

30. Chargers - WR Robert Meachem, Tennessee
Coach Norv Turner needs a Michael Irvin type to step forward.

31. Bears - OT Tony Ugoh, Arkansas
A liability in the passing game but a force on the ground.

32. Colts - CB Leon Hall, Michigan
How do you top winning a Super Bowl? By drafting the "BPA."

Some outside the norm thinking in that mock, I'm not too focused on teams outside the AFC East so I'll confine myself to those choices:

Levi Brown to the Bills, it makes some sense, but as of today, with a CB, MLB, and DE in FA and rumors of an OLB being cut loose, defense seems a better option with the OL depth in this draft.

The Dolphin D was solid if arthritic last season and haven't lost much. The O stunk and the new head coach is an O man, Levi Brown would be attractive, but with that ball dropping Chambers and an aging Marty Booker letting Welker carry the load too often last season, a WR wouldn't go amiss either. Hughes barely makes the bottom of the first round just about everywhere and Cam had himself some big WRs in San Diego - like Bowe.

The only question on the Meriweather selection for the Jets is the same character question the Pats would have to answer if they are looking at him.

Moss at #24 for the Pats would be my choice if I were to decide on a DE to OLB conversion project using first round talent. Spencer would get consideration too, as would Woodley. I'm not sold on using a first for an OLB conversion, but I can't rule it out in a draft this iffy for quality or depth in so many areas - then again, without some radical change in fortune for some currently considered second or third round prospects Moss or Spencer are BPA.

Siler is reported too raw and too light for the Pats' 3-4. BPA based on current boards argues for Ugoh or Staley or another OLB risk in Spencer, or one of the Centers like Kalil or Satele. Myself, I'd be really happy with a "reach" for Leonard or Bradley or a CB or everybody's favorite a TE like Chandler.

An interesting read, welcome aboard by the way.
