IR Possibilities

I think someone down in Foxborough needs to question why they've had 3 acls already.

IIRC, they replaced the turf at Gillette early this spring. OTOH, Edelman's injury occurred in Detroit.

Rivers, Edelman and Cyrus were all on-contact injuries incurred while trying to cut sharply.

I know. Still, that's a trend and not a good one. Hope it's just a blip. Been a big blip for sure.

I assume Garcia's heading to IR. No idea what to make of McClellin; they can definitely use him, but he's been out for so long that I'm not sure how he could reasonably be ready. Slater being IRed would be a pretty major upset, though. It could happen because crazy **** always happens this time of year, but I definitely don't expect it.

Something to remember regarding placing some players on Injured Reserve:

- Yes, players can come off IR and return later in the season.
- Yes, the club does not have to designate a player to return when he is placed on IR, like they used to have to do.
- HOWEVER, only a maximum of two players are allowed to come off IR and return to play later in the season.

That means if you suggest, for example, that Ebner, Slater, McClellin and Garcia all be placed on IR, then the season is over for at least two of the them. Even if you write Garcia off in that scenario, then one of Ebner, Slater and McClellin will also be forced to spend the entire season on IR.

It also means that if another player has an injury and will be out for over a month, the team would then be forced to keep them on the 53-man roster as a healthy scratch for several weeks, since the flexibility of IR-and-then-return would be gone at that point.
