Interesting theory about Colts/Saints offenses

Did they lose because of their simplicity or in spite of it?

If he threw it to the outside it probably wouldn't have been picked, also if the receiver had actively gone for the ball instead of waiting for it to come to him it probably wouldn't have been picked.

Also, there is a difference between simple and predictable.

Bad route by Wayne. Bad throw by Manning. Bad read by Manning as he should have thrown over the middle to Collie.

When I look at the Colts' offense, I see why all this talk about predictability is overrated. The Colts have won plenty of games with a very predictable offense. Most of the time, it isn't hard to figure out what they are going to do even with all the crap Manning does before the snap and teams still can't stop the offense.

I'm not suggesting we try to mirror the Colts, I don't like an unbalanced offense and I think the fullback is important, but one cannot deny the Colts success. All I'm saying is that a case can be made for having a simple yet effective offense.

One cannot deny their creampuff schedule of bad pass defenses. One cannot deny their overall pitiful playoff performances. Look their offense is great but it's NOT because of simplicity.

Simple said they played that play just how it was drawn up. There's a reason Porter knew he could jump that play. There's a reason Law used to pick off Manning. There's a reason a guy like Samuel will get a pick on similar plays against Manning.

The simplicity is NOT what makes the Colts offense successful. It may make it easier to find talent to succeed in it, but the simplicity isn't the driving force of success. Plus it is proven to fail in the playoffs by and large.
