If PSU gets the Death Penalty What Happens to O'Brien?

I was at PSU for 3 years. I've been at other d1 BCS schools. When it came to academics and discipline, PSU was easily the strictest. There were rapes covered up at other schools, whereas at PSU, you had EZ Smith dumped off the team for 2 open beer container violations, Curtis Enis dumped for accepting a suit for the Heisman ceremony, Joe Jurevicius dumped for missing a class. Now, those can either be considered displine problems, or the sort of thing that would never even get mentioned at the vast majority of campuses.

You look at U. Washington under Mark Emmert, for instance, and the whole Roc Alexander rape cover-up happened under his leadership, with the head of NCAA doing absolutely nothing to the administrators who covered up rape.
Doing nothing in another instance doesn't absolve PSU or the NCAA from doing what's right this time around.

Don't forget Dan Conner and his crank phone calls to former asst. coach Joe Sarra. Got 3 games for that. Stupid. But, come on.

Phil Taylor was thrown out of school for his involvement in a fight at student union building. Father wasn't too happy PSU made an example of his son. Went to Baylor and became a 1st round pick.

Phillip Taylor's Departure From Penn State Getting Ugly

Here's that article in SI about college players facing charges. One of the reasons Pitt and PSU were at the top is Pennsylvania's information laws. Anyone can go to a courthouse and get a list of charges. Not all of the players are convicted. Sometimes they are dropped altogether or lessened. Most at PSU are alcohol related. There were two big fights. One betweens some players and students who got in a fight with Anthony Sciriotto. And, one where there was a big fight on campus. A couple of fights and a lot of alochol stuff.

EZ Smith was also cited for shooting a compound bow in his apartment on campus. Damaged the walls quite a bit. Crazy kids.

But I guess beating up someone unconscious and still beating him up="Cleaning up the stadium during sundays for the entire season".
But that punishment was vacated for the last two weeks of the season.

What do you think most kids get for the same incident? Fines, probation, no prison time and community service would be my guess.

Beating up someone and beating up someone unconscious = battery. Since they broke into an apt in order to beat up those two PSU students, it should have been multiple game suspensions.

And the previous part of the incident you are not mentioning didn't precipitate the fight?

Yeah. A verbal altercation and a minor fight is justification to call the mob for a beatdown, break into an apartment and beat the living **** out of people; including a student who was unconscious and still got his head bashed in repeatedly.
There is zero justification for that.

In any other town, those players should be in county jail charged with felony battery and breaking and entering.

Most kids would be kicked out of whatever school they were attending if they did such a thing. And doing time would not be entirely out of the question.

One of the players was tossed from school. Chris Baker. Scirotto pleaded to a lesser offense.

Here's an article on baker.PSU never said he was tossed because of the altercation. But, that was strike 2 for him.

Paterno Dismisses Chris Baker and Phil Taylor From Team - Black Shoe Diaries

And, if Paterno ran State College as the national keeps insisting he did. How the hell did all of these players get charges pressed against them?

Who said it did? Look, if you think the NCAA is an upstanding organization, you couldn't be more wrong. The org was headed by people who, upon retirement, would go directly to work for slime, the thuggiest of the thuggy street agents. Not only that, but in overlooking the culture of bigtime football everywhere which lead to cover-ups of rape and murders, they preside over this sort of thing and practically encourage it. Beyond that, they have major problems right now elsewhere that they are sweeping under the rug. So spare me the NCAA hypocrisy. I know this org too well.

Scirotto was actually attacked on the street. The person who hit him also punched out his girlfriend. When the judge heard Scirotto's case, he asked the prosecutor why he was prosecuting the victim and not the person who committed the assault. The case was thrown out of court and Scirotto plead to entering the apartment after he'd been hit.

Come on, are you serious? Does Wolfpack stand for NC State? Because you can look at Miami, Clemson, FSU and other schools in your league that have had fights happen without a charge or even a missed game.

I'm calling BS here. I can point you to dozens if not hundreds of other schools where beat downs take place without any repercussions.

AND, these people were arrested and went to trial AFTER being tossed out of PSU. At other schools, they stay on the team.

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread. It sucks pretty bad.

I don't think they're an upstanding organization and I realize every person on the face of the planet is hypocritical at times but PSU were handed a lifeline here. Personally, I would have killed the program. Then again, I'd make examples of every single program who have transgressed leaving slim to no participants in the NCAA.

Take your faux outrage elsewhere. I don't care for it.

I agree with your first part totally.

I responded to your faux outrage earlier.

That wasn't outrage, that was an admission of sorts that the NCAA are hypocritical fools who pick and choose their battles much like the rest of society.

That's where we disagree. It's not a matter of picking of battles. They have absolutely no interest in academics or integrity. It's a PR organization that protects certain members no matter what they do. The NCAA's intents are malicious, always have been.
